Samsung finally started rolling out Android Oreo to Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung has been beta testing Android 8.0 Oreo with Galaxy S8 and S8+ users since early November. Now, the OTA update is finally rolling out, as spotted by SamMobile.

Germany is the first region reported to be receiving it, and those that were already running the betas will get it first. After about 24 hours, non-beta testers will begin to see it. As always, you can check for updates through the Settings app on your phone.

The update will bring lots of new features to Samsung"s flagship handsets, and as you"d imagine, it"s not just the improvements that Google provides. Samsung is also updating its "Samsung Experience" UI (formerly Touchwiz) with new features. The keyboard will see some improvements, with new high contrast modes and support for Emoji 5.0. There"s also a new Edge Lighting effect that users can turn on.

Users will find that the device now has new Always On Display options, such as new colors. The phone will offer lock screen accent colors, and Dual Messenger is now a standard feature, which is useful on services where the user might have two accounts.

The Oreo update should be about 487MB, although that will be smaller if you"ve been using the beta, and it comes with the February 2018 security patch.

Did you receive Oreo on your S8 or S8+? Let us know in the comments!
