Samsung Galaxy S26 series will most likely get a price hike

Leaks and rumors have played their part, revealing almost all details about next year"s Galaxy S-series flagships, the Galaxy S26 series. Due to low sales, Samsung is likely to discontinue the "Edge" series slim variant, as reportedly, there will be no Galaxy S26 Edge next year.

This means that next year"s Galaxy S26 series will include the standard Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Recently, the real-life images, courtesy of a case maker, of the Galaxy S26 Ultra were leaked, suggesting the phone will get a new camera bump similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold7.

Now, information about the prices of the Galaxy S26 series has popped up. According to the South Korean publication ETNews, Samsung is all set to increase the prices of the Galaxy S26 series. The reason behind it is due to the rising cost of the internal components. The report adds that the "booming memory semiconductor market and the gradual rise in the prices of key components" might lead the company to hike the prices.

This year, the Galaxy S25 series launched with the same price tag as the Galaxy S24 series. However, that may not be the case with the Galaxy S26 series. As per Samsung, the price of the mobile application processors increased by 12% compared to last year"s average, whereas prices of the camera modules went up by 8%.

Also, as most smartphone makers are shifting towards embedding AI into their phones, and since Galaxy AI is a major part of Samsung"s flagships, the increased demand for HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) will ultimately force Samsung to increase the prices of its devices.

For now, it is unclear how much price hike Samsung is considering, we"ll have to play it by ear as details continue to leak ahead of the reveal.
