Samsung has introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) with One UI 8 for upcoming Galaxy smartphones. The new security feature creates encrypted, app-specific storage for your sensitive user data which ensures that apps only have access to their own data.
KEEP also protects personalized AI features such as Now Brief and Smart Gallery search, keeping personal information, like routines and preferences, on device. KEEP also works with Knox Vault to deliver hardware-level security, which prevents tampering.
Another part of the operating system getting an update with One UI 8 is Knox Matrix, Samsung’s private blockchain-based security system. It will be evolving to be more proactive and offer more user-friendly protection for connected Galaxy devices. When a device is flagged as a serious risk in this new update, it will automatically be signed out of the Samsung Account to help prevent the threat from spreading.
With the new Knox Matrix, users will get notifications across all of their connected Galaxy devices and be shown to the “Security status of your devices” page to take action against any issues that arise. Samsung said that even devices without the latest update will be able to trigger a warning when things go awry.
Another area where Samsung is improving the security in One UI 8 is with Secure Wi-Fi, which is getting an upgrade with post-quantum cryptography. This builds on the Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP) that the company introduced with the Galaxy S25. This measure will secure key exchanges from future attacks. Did you know that malicious actors are engaging in “harvest now, decrypt later” where they get encrypted data now and decrypt it in the future with quantum computers. This forward-thinking approach from Samsung should help to limit this threat.
As cyberthreats continue to grow, efforts like these from Samsung will be important to help keep their customers safe and secure.
