Samsung opens registrations for Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta in the UK

A few months ago, Samsung confirmed a list of devices which it said it was planning to upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This week, it took a significant step towards that rollout, by opening a beta testing program in its home market of South Korea - and now, it"s offering the same opportunity in the UK.

Samsung UK is inviting owners of its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge flagships to "be a beta tester" for its Android upgrade. While its tweet refers only to the "GS6", the image it used shows the S6 edge, indicating that both of these handsets are eligible for the OS preview in the UK, as in South Korea.

Unlike its Korean beta testing program, you don"t have to be using your device on a particular UK mobile network in order to sign up. You will need to create a Samsung Account, though, and after installing the Galaxy Care app from Google Play, you can then register for the "Galaxy Beta Program".

Despite Google having released Android 6.0 in early October, Samsung hasn"t yet begun upgrading its devices to that version of the OS, even though the newer Android 6.0.1 update has already begun rolling out elsewhere.
