Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a special version of the flip smartphone designed for the 3,800 athletes competing in the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. These devices will be distributed beginning on January 30 at Olympic Villages across six host cities. The games are set to commence on February 6.
For the first time at a Winter Olympics, Samsung is running the Victory Selfie program that will allow medalists to take personal photos on the podium using the Olympic Edition device. Samsung is expanding this program for these games to include team sport celebrations, enabling group photos when teams achieve a win.
The hardware features an Italian Azure blue glass back and a custom gold metal frame, symbolizing the host country’s cultural heritage and its athletes pursuit of excellence. Each device will also include a clear magnetic case covered with gold laurel leaves and exclusive winter-themed wallpapers inspired by skate blade marks on ice.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition features a 50MP wide rear camera and a suite of Galaxy AI tools such as the on-device interpreter for real-time translation and Now Brief for personalized daily updates. Athletes will also get a 100GB 5G eSIM and a pre-loaded Coca-Cola Free Beverage Key accessible via Samsung Wallet for use in the Olympic Villages.
To encourage athletes to use these devices, Samsung has integrated several services it thinks are essential such as the Athlete365 app and the IOC Hotline. This replaces physical documentation that athletes receive with a digital-first environment for support and communication.
For anyone wondering, the Olympic Edition will not be available for public sale, so it could become a collector"s item if athletes decide to offer them up for sale. The closest that the public can get to owning the device is by buying the standard Galaxy Z Flip7, which is currently around $900 for the 256GB model on Amazon.
