Back in May, Microsoft"s Mojang team took to the stage at TwitchCon to reveal what"s coming next to Minecraft. Alongside all the Chaos Cubed update features, the studio also gave a few teasers about the year"s third content drop, which included The Dappled Forest as a new biome. Now, Mojang is rolling out test builds for players to try out the upcoming update ahead of its release, and there"s even more feature information being revealed.
While it sounds small, the ability to sit has been a major request by Minecraft players since the game"s pre-release days to increase its immersion and social aspects. There are a number of tricks and glitches to make this happen in the base game, and also hordes of options in the modding space, but soon, those won"t be required.
The Cushion is a brand-new item being added that will let players sit down when placed on any flat surface. All that"s required to craft them are three Wool Slabs, with 16 color variations available in testing.
That"s not the only resting-related addition. Straw Beds are the next feature, a brand-new sleeping option for skipping the night period. These are cheap to produce in the early game too, only requiring three hay bales, which produce four Straw Beds.
However, the difference here is that these are one-time-use beds, and the respawn point will also not change when using them. Straw Beds are described as being useful for going on adventures or working on projects without resetting the actual home point.
The Minecraft Bedrock Edition Preview 26.40.30 and Java Edition 26.3 Snapshot 3 versions carrying these new features can now be downloaded by players looking to test out the builds prior to a full launch later.
Mojang has yet to attach a name or a release date to this content update. It is likely that even more features will be added during the testing phase too, as the currently confirmed additions change according to feedback.
