Skull & Bones features exciting naval combat in new gameplay trailer, beta announced as well

Announced by Ubisoft at last year"s E3, the open world pirate game Skull & Bones has gotten a new gameplay trailer today, showing off action-packed naval combat with other players. An upcoming beta for the game is now open for registration as well, although no start date has been announced as of yet.

A cinematic trailer was initially shown, unveiling intense naval warfare in the Indian ocean.

The description of Skull & Bones reads as follows:

"It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. You are a pirate captain who has refused the king’s pardon and sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an untamed frontier full of lavish riches. However, these waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs clash. In order to survive, you will have to build a lethal fleet, prey upon lucrative trade routes, and ally with other pirates in your endless struggle for supremacy."

The game can be played both solo or coop, and will feature a variety of game modes. Justin Farren, Creative Director at Ubisoft Singapore, revealed some interesting gameplay elements like "fortunes", and went on to describe Skull & Bones as ""a shared world, where every player encounter matters."

A detailed gameplay trailer was revealed as well, displaying exciting, action-packed naval combat, quite similar to what we"ve seen in the same publisher"s famous title, Assassin"s Creed IV : Black Flag.

There are several different combat options available, providing some interesting ways to traverse the open world, such as disguising your ship as a friendly rather than engaging an enemy head-on, and more.

The game is set to be launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. However, you can already register for the beta here.
