Tap to skip back and forth is broken in YouTube's Android app but there's a workaround

If you have been using the YouTube app lately on Android, you might have noticed that something was a bit strange when it came to fast forwarding and rewinding videos, and as you now know, you are not alone when it comes to this problem. The team at YouTube has confirmed that the tap to fast forward and rewind feature in the app is currently broken.

While the team does not have an ETA of when it will be fixed it did state that there is a workaround for the problem. If you want to rewind or fast-forward the video that you are watching, you can simply just tap and hold the red progress bubble on the video timeline and drag it either backward or forwards.

If you"re using the YouTube app on Android, we"re aware of an issue with tapping on the progress bar to skip forwards/backwards.

Workaround: you can still hold and drag the red dot on the progress bar.

Will share another update once it"s fixed! https://t.co/uAFph5jzEa

The temporary solution is an obvious one for any seasoned YouTube user and, while it isn"t the most elegant, will have to do for the meantime. The team at YouTube will share an update once the problem has been fixed.
