These 13 Google products now have more than 1 billion users each

Google has kicked off its annual developer event, Google I/O 2026, with the official keynote at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. While we have already seen several new products and features this month during the Android Show livestream, the search giant will unveil more during the two-day event.

For starters, Google CEO Sundar Puchari revealed some stats related to the company"s generative AI models and active users. The Gemini app has more than 900 million monthly active users, and more than half of these have been added over the last 12 months. In comparison, the Gemini app had just 400 million monthly active users at last year"s I/O.

Talking about other products, the Google CEO revealed that AI Overviews now has over 2.5 billion monthly users, and AI Mode in Google Search, launched around a year ago, has surpassed 1 billion monthly users.

That said, Google has over 13 products with a billion users each. Here"s the list:

  • Google Search
  • Gmail
  • Google Drive
  • Google Chrome
  • Google Maps
  • Google Play
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Photos
  • Android
  • Google Discover
  • Google Lens
  • YouTube
  • Google Messages.

Note that five of them, including Google Search, Gmail, Android, Chrome, and YouTube, now have more than three billion users.

One of the things people do with AI is generate images using natural language prompts. Google"s Nano Banana has emerged as Google"s breakout star over the past year. The model has been used to generate over 50 billion images.

Google"s SynthID tool is used to add a digital watermark to AI-generated images. The three-year-old tool has been used to stamp "made by AI" on over 100 billion images and videos and over 60,000 years of audio assets. Google added a SynthID detector in the Gemini app, which has now been used more than 50 million times.

Pichai also revealed that the company was processing over 97 trillion tokens per month across its services two years ago. That number increased to 480 trillion tokens in 2025, and now, Google processes 3.2 quadrillion tokens each month, which is seven times that of last year. "Never imagined I would say quadrillion in an I/O keynote, but here we are," Puchai said.

Over 8.5 million developers are now building apps and experiences using Google"s AI models each month. The company"s model APIs are now processing 19 billion tokens per minute, recording a 6x growth since January 2025. Pichai noted that over 375 customers processed more than a trillion tokens each over the last 12 months.
