Google announces Gemini 3.5 Flash, its "strongest" coding model yet

Just moments ago at Google I/O 2026, Google announced Gemini 3.5 Flash, a brand new lightweight AI model built to run complex multi-step workflows at very high speeds. The company claims it"s "strongest agentic and coding model yet."

According to the Mountain View-based tech giant, Gemini 3.5 Flash scored 76.2% on the Terminal-bench 2.1 coding evaluation and 1656 on the GDPval-AA real-world agentic benchmark. This performance beats Gemini 3.1 Pro that launched on February 19, 2026. Google specifically designed the model built for long-horizon tasks, agentic coding, and coordinating subagents to give enterprise API customers a highly reduced cost-per-token for heavy workloads.

Meet Gemini 3.5 Flash โ€” our strongest agentic and coding model yet.

It delivers frontier-level performance at 4x the speed of comparable frontier models โ€” often at less than half the cost.
