Twitter to change favoriting tweets to 'Like' soon

It appears that Twitter will be taking steps to make favoriting a tweet a bit more like Facebook soon. According to information sent to Neowin by a well-placed source familiar with the company"s plans, the favorite feature for Twitter will be changed to "Like" sometime in the near future.

In addition we were sent a manipulated image to show how the feature would look after being implemented, but it is unknown at this point if the star icon will be changed, with the source telling Neowin that this is "unlikely" to happen.

The example image was manipulated with web inspector.

The language on the Twitter support site already clarifies that favoriting a tweet lets users know that you like it, so it"s not completely surprising that the social media platform will want to make this even easier to understand moving forward:

Favorites, represented by a small star icon in a Tweet, are most commonly used when users like a Tweet. Favoriting a Tweet can let the original poster know that you liked their Tweet, or you can save the Tweet for later.

Further, we were sent multiple images detailing the change, one of which we have included below.

It"s unknown at this point when this feature will be pushed live across the platform, but we have reached out to Twitter for comment and will update when we hear back.
