Unboxing and first impressions of the Honor 9A

Despite being unable to license Android from Google, Huawei"s sub-brand Honor hasn"t slowed down on making new phones. The Honor 30 Pro+ was a pretty great phone, barring its software limitations, but because it"s expensive and doesn"t support Google services, availability is pretty limited. But if you like the idea of Android without Google services, low-end options like the Honor 9A are more widely available in Europe.

The Honor 9A was announced last month and went on sale this month, and it"s powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, combined with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has a pretty large 5,000mAh battery, and considering this is a pretty low-power device, that should last pretty long on a charge.

The display is also in line with the low-end nature of the Honor 9A, with a 6.3-inch panel at HD+ (1600x720) resolution. It has a small waterdrop-style notch for the 8MP selfie camera, and on the back, there"s a triple camera setup. It has a 13MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

All of that starts at €149.90, with prices varying across different countries in Europe. You can check out our initial hands-on video below.
