Verizon FiOS 300 Mbps speed pricing revealed

A few days ago, we reported that Verizon FiOS customers would soon be able to get access to a new speed tier of 300 Mbps for downloads and 65 Mbps for uploads, which is about double what Verizon currently offers as the top speed for the FiOS service.

Now The Verge has information, from an anonymous source, about the pricing for this new top speed, along with word that it will be made available for FiOS subscribers starting June 17th. The 300/65 tier will cost $204.99 per month, which is $5 higher than the current 150/35 plan.

The $204.99 price is based on a two year contract; if you go month to month, it"s $5 more per month and if you don"t get FiOS"s phone service it will cost an additional $5 per month. There"s also a $100 one time equipment upgrade fee for the 300 Mbps service but that won"t apply if you sign that two year contract, if you already use the 150 Mbps service or if you happen to be a new Verizon FiOS subscriber.

If you can"t afford to spend $204.99 a month for the 300 Mbps service, Verizon will still have a way to get the current 150 Mbps download speeds, with an increase to 65 Mbps for uploads, at a price of $94.99 with a two year contract. That"s a huge savings compared to what the 150 Mbps service currently costs. Oddly, the base speed of 15 Mbps will get a $10 per month price increase under the new plan.
