Visual Studio 2013 update 3 hits RTM, can now be downloaded

It has been a busy day for Microsoft, with the release of the first update to Windows Phone 8.1 for the developer preview program and now the release of Visual Studio 2013 Update 3, Azure SDK 2.4 and Apache Cordova Tools CTP 2.

Visual Studio Update 3 brings with it a few new features that will make the lives of developers a little bit easier. Microsoft said that the updates include Application Insights integration for new and existing projects, CodeLens supports for Git, multi-monitor support for Windows Store app development, test plan customization with TFS 2013 Update 3, View Source support in the CPU Usage diagnostics tool,  improvements to Code Map, Azure WebJobs integration, new Windows Phone emulators.

In addition to the features within Update 3, there are a number of related releases that will ship in tandem, including:

  • Multi-Device Hybrid Apps CTP: New features include support for debugging Android targets, SDK support for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 R2, among others.
  • Microsoft Azure SDK 2.4: The storage and virtual machine features enable remote debugging of 32-bit VMs, and viewing of storage activity logs.
  • Stand-alone IntelliTrace Collector: The collector enables saving diagnostic data to an IntelliTrace log file and records what happened to the app without installing Visual Studio or changing the app’s environment.

The Azure SDK 2.4 can now be downloaded for Visual Studio 2012 and 2013. Also announced today is the second update to the Cordova tools that were first released back in June.

Microsoft has been pumping out updates at a constant rate for Visual Studio and shows no sign of slowing down. With updates coming out so quickly, if you have feedback for the team, make sure to let us know as they are implementing features that you stand a good chance for having your voice heard about what to implement next.
