WinRAR is an archiving utility that completely supports RAR and ZIP archives and is able to unpack CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO, 7Z, Z archives. It consistently makes smaller archives than the competition, saving disk space and transmission costs. WinRAR offers you the benefit of industry strength archive encryption using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a key of 128 bits. It supports files and archives up to 8,589 billion gigabytes in size. It also offers the ability to create self extracting and multi volume archives. With recovery record and recovery volumes, you can reconstruct even physically damaged archives.

- Solid archive deletion improvements — faster processing; unaffected blocks are copied without recompression.
Archive naming by mask (-ag) — new format characters:
- K = day of week name
- O = month name (full names supported)
Other changes
- Excess format characters ignored.
- Command-line -s switch enhancements — supports optional parameters, multiple modifiers, and -s=r to reset solid statistics.
- -tk switch — optional date parameter (YYYYMMDDHHMMSS) preserves or sets archive modification time.
- Manual archive time — “Specified time” option added in GUI.
- Generate report — UTF-8 output and byte order mask options.
- Cloud files detection — new toggle in context menu settings to skip SFX detection on cloud files.
- Copy search results to clipboard — button added in “Find files” dialog.
- Faster archive opening — especially large ZIP archives with millions of files.
- Improved TAR extraction speed — noticeable on slower drives.
SFX module
- SFX module variable — sfxnamenoext allows referencing archive name in destination paths.
- -oi switch — minsize parameter can include unit (e.g., -oi:1m).
- -x switch — supports both Windows and Unix-style path separators.
Bug fixes
- Exclude files ignored for separate ZIP archives.
- Password prompt “Use for all archives” fixed when converting non-encrypted names.
- Security fix from 7.13: directory traversal vulnerability patched for WinRAR/UnRAR on Windows; Unix/Android versions unaffected.
