WinRAR is an archiving utility that completely supports RAR and ZIP archives and is able to unpack CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO, 7Z, Z archives. It consistently makes smaller archives than the competition, saving disk space and transmission costs. WinRAR offers you the benefit of industry strength archive encryption using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a key of 128 bits. It supports files and archives up to 8,589 billion gigabytes in size. It also offers the ability to create self extracting and multi volume archives. With recovery record and recovery volumes, you can reconstruct even physically damaged archives.

Improvements

WinRAR now correctly opens archives with incorrect file extensions if they contain another archive stored without compression.
File list sorting matches Windows Explorer: first click on Size/Time sorts in reverse (largest/newest first).
-s=e now compares file extensions case-insensitively on Windows, without resetting solid statistics on case-only differences.
Self-extracting archives quietly quit if admin elevation is cancelled, instead of showing an access error.

Bug Fixes

Fixed broken archives produced when deleting files from solid RAR4 archives; deletion now triggers full repack (RAR5 unaffected).
Rare crash when compressing large, poorly compressible data.
Fixed inability to unpack ZIP archives with file comments.
-tl switch didn’t set latest time when used with ch command.
Extraction no longer fails on reserved device names (e.g., aux).
Fixed issue where double-clicking a folder shortcut in “Save WinRAR settings as” overwrote the shortcut instead of opening it.
