You can now generate images with Gemini in Google Docs on Android

Last November, Google rolled out a feature for Google Docs on the web, powered by Gemini, that lets users generate images in different art styles like watercolor or sketch. The tool was accessible through the menu path Insert > Image > Help me create an image. Now, Google"s bringing that same image creation capability over to the Google Docs app on Android.

To use the feature inside your Docs on Android, you simply tap the "Ask Gemini" icon located at the top right of the screen. This action opens a panel at the bottom, ready for your input. You can type in a detailed prompt, such as "Generate an image for a photorealistic portrait of an astronaut drinking coffee on Mars". After you send the prompt, Gemini will present you with its creations.

From there, you can tap an image to preview it full-screen, or you can touch and hold the image to get a menu with options to copy, download, or insert it straight into your document. You can also upload to Drive by tapping the dedicated button when previewing an image.

The feature began rolling out last Friday, and Google notes the gradual rollout could take up to fourteen days to reach everyone. Access is restricted to paying customers on specific Google Workspace subscribers: Business Standard and Plus; Enterprise Standard and Plus; and anyone with a Google AI Pro and Ultra subscription. It is also available to customers who have purchased a Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, Gemini Business, or Gemini Enterprise add-on.

On a related note, recently, another Workspace product, Google Forms, received another Gemini upgrade. The platform introduced a new "Suggest Questions" feature that appears at the bottom of a form once you have written a few questions yourself.

It analyzes the existing content to provide contextually relevant, AI-generated questions you can add with a click. There are some limitations, such as the feature being currently limited to English and not working with forms that use multiple sections.
