You'll soon be able to visit a doctor virtually through the Samsung Health app

Samsung Health, the free fitness and wellness app, is getting updated with several new features, including one that lets you visit a doctor virtually.

The virtual visits feature, called Find Care, is powered by HealthTap, a virtual primary care practice that connects people with board-certified doctors. You can review doctor profiles, check their credentials, and then choose your doctor for a video appointment. This company partnered with Samsung to bring telehealth services to its Smart TVs about two years ago.

Within the Samsung Health app, users can book their consultations, see upcoming appointments, and even ask follow-up questions. Samsung includes a little footnote in its announcement stating that this is all intended for general wellness purposes, and you should not treat it as authoritative medical advice. So, you know, still talk to a real doctor.

Health Records, the feature announced last October, which lets you consolidate your medical data from different providers into a single location, is getting an upgrade. The app is now letting you connect with Walgreens pharmacies.

To use the Health Records feature, you open the app and navigate to the Health Records section to search for your provider. Once you locate them, you will sign into their portal and grant the necessary permissions for the data transfer. Just be prepared to wait a bit, as the sync can take up to 24 hours to finish.

Lastly, the update brings "expert-guided" workouts, aimed at fitness enthusiasts and anyone else trying to stay active, thanks to a partnership with iFIT. This is a fitness platform with an extensive library of content that focuses heavily on strength training.

You get access to videos for workouts like Pilates and high-intensity interval training, arranged into helpful categories like trending workouts and seasonal recommendations. This content is available in the US, UK, New Zealand, India, Italy, France, Australia, Canada, Spain, and Germany for now.

Expect the new features to start rolling out starting September 8.
