Police: Man dares authorities to stop sexual assault

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Randy Martinez is accused of possessing and distributing thousands of files of child pornography."It's bizarre. (I have) never had something like this in 13 years," said Bernalillo County Sheriff's Detective Kyle Hartsock.

Hartsock said just hours before Martinez's arrest, the 20-year-old visited a website where you can contact federal agents about possible sex crimes against children. Martinez allegedly dared agents to stop him from sexually assaulting a young girl later that same night.

"(The suspect said) that he was going to rape a 6-year-old that he was baby-sitting," said Hartsock.

Martinez used a fake name in the tip but did say he was a 20-year-old in Albuquerque. Federal agents immediately traced the tip's origin to a home and contacted BCSO.

Deputies discovered a young girl did live at that Albuquerque address and wasted no time going to the home. When they arrived, Martinez and a child greeted the deputies.

Hartsock questioned Martinez, who initially denied everything, until Hartsock searched the web history on Martinez's phone.

"Approximately 1,400 files of child pornography (were found)," said Hartsock.

Hartsock said Martinez later admitted the child porn images were his and that he authored the tip. When asked why, Martinez allegedly said he wanted to play a game, like in a movie.

"(He wanted to) start this cat and mouse game with the FBI, kind of leaving hints and clues about his devious acts," Harstock said.

Martinez never admitted to sexually assaulting the young girl.

Hartsock said the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigators are concerned Martinez may have other victims because of what else he said in his tip.

Well, if you want to play chicken, you're doing it wrong. At least bounce your IP a few times. I"m not condoning what the dude was going to do, but if I was going to go head to head with the FBI, I'd at least make it fun.

Hilarious that you think they can find you fast. That's why people like Anonymous, and the top 10 most wanted hackers, still aren't caught.

*double facepalm*
