Your idea for the "perfect" WindowBlinds theme

Recommended Posts

Ok, let's here your ideas for the "perfect" WindowBlinds theme. Colors, transparency, animations.....whatever! Tell me the elements that you would think a new WindowBlinds theme should be made of. I often hear how people don't like this, or don't like that, so I wanted to give everyone a chance to give their opinions on what they want to see.

Mockups would be even more awesome, and maybe I will even give out a prize if we can get some really usable designs in this thread.

:)

something as usable as possible ...

must not be a pain to work with it ...

mustn't be too distractive ...

mustn't be too simple & boring ...

some theme have "complex" elements, but that kills usability...

while in the other hands if it is too simple it can be boring.

Also I can't bear bugs: a theme that impress is nice, but when I see

bugs I'm wondering if creators have even used that theme.

Simple, stylish, professional, with black, transparent, dark blue colors.

WB Skinners tends to overuse the capability of WB when come to window borders.

MSStyles are limited in the size, but it's better like this.

Royale Vista is the best Example

I don't really care much for transparency. Its nice, but most of the time I have my windows maximised and can't really see myself changing that. I love a professional/simple theme.

I know WB has the ability to make fancy animations or huge graphics, but they're pretty impractical and just a novelty to me. I prefer a simple theme that isn't in my face but still looks nice.

On XP I used to use LE5 most of the time and never really bothered with WB because the themes didn't have anything special over msstyles. In Vista I'm still using the default theme, but I actually disabled aero because I don't like the animations/transparency. I just wanted something plain and simple.

Also, the theme needs to look good with the taskbar set to different heights. I have mine on 3 rows atm and quite a few themes don't work too well with that.

I have to agree with a lot of the earlier suggestions here. I always wished that Royale Vista II would be finished (http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=6286&libid=1).

My perfect theme would be dark, only subtle transparency (if any), subtle animations, but very clean and not gimmicky or annoying in any way. The words "Piano Black" come to mind.

I.R.Brainiac, sure your skins have lot of fans and they are quality though very far from my tastes. But actually... all the suggestions point to a minimal and usable theme...

That fluffy thing don't fit in any suggestion here :/

ROFL, my last PC was named Blackbird (I'm a big fan of Army Aircrafts, my current one is Nighthawk (The F-117)) :p

Tough, I can't see how you could make a skin on that

Oh well, that don't surprise me coming from you :p

I use my main rig now for vista media center a lot...probably about 70% of the time. For all the skins that are now wb6/vista made it seems that only the stardock made ones have been actually vetted to work properly for vista.

What I mean by that is that the min/max/close glyphs actually work correctly. Let's say I take stardocks metal vista...those work fine. But if I were to use 'iphonix' by othersnow (one of my favorites) the min/max bottons don't work.

If they are made for vista then people need to take the time to properly make them for all parts of vista.

Black by rjsmith2007 is without a doubt still my most used theme. The screenshot really doesn't do it justice.

Even though it's designed for XP, I still find myself using it on Vista..even if theres a few glitches I still love the clean minimalist slickness. Wish someone would design something like this for Vista.. :(

VisionZero by da-flow(code2) also deserves a mention I think.

It obviously never saw the light of day. Not even sure if I've still got the psd.

Dude you so need to finish that... Most VS for Vista Windowblinds Ive not liked but that has some serious potential...

    • I like to reminisce about the good old days, way back in autumn 2025 when building a gaming machine was fun and the drives were about $150 when you caught a deal. Yes duh, back in the day we had it gone. Then baby Skynet came along, hiding in AI datacenters demanding more processing power until it reached singularity. End of a not totally fictional story.
    • My experience in the past with older Windows 11 builds was not great on unsupported machines but I recently used Rufus to put the latest build on a older 5th Gen Core Thinkpad T that we upgraded with a SATA SSD and 8GB of RAM four years ago when hardware was reasonable and it seemed pretty fast and solid. Customer is very happy with the performance and will probably get four more years out of that venerable laptop that he loves so much. Another customer just retired his Dell Studio laptop from 2009 running Windows 10. It got an SSD over 10 years ago and did everything he needed it to for 17 years but he also retired last year and is happy doing everything on his iPad now.
    • Apple's newest AirTag 2 gets first big discount by Taras Buria In late January 2026, Apple introduced its second-generation AirTag trackers, bringing a refresh to the old model that has been on the market for half a decade. Now, you can get these new trackers at an all-time low price, thanks to the first big discount that brought the price down by 17% on Amazon. While the second-generation AirTag looks identical to its predecessor, it packs meaningful upgrades inside. The second-gen ultrawideband chip works 50% farther than the original AirTag, allowing you to detect lost items in a wider range. In addition, the second-generation AirTag features an upgraded Bluetooth chip for extended range and a significantly louder speaker (up to 50%) so that you can hear it better when locating a lost item. Note that the second-gen AirTag only works with iPhones and iPads that run iOS/iPadOS 26 and newer, so you need a compatible device to use the tracker. Like the original AirTag, the AirTag 2 is available in two packs: one and four pieces. Both are now available at a notable discount on Amazon, and you can purchase them using the links below. • I've been on Deezer for over a decade, but glad that Tidal joined them in fighting AI slop. Can't stand such takes as Spotify's: "Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music."
    • “Could” … in the IS the healthcare is run by insurance companies that make indecent profits denying basic treatments to people that are paying money for nothing. Besides, where are all the Trump epigones who were stating that the tariffs were going to paid by foreign companies and not the US citizens? …
