Webroot SecureAnywhere 2013 v8.0.2.85 Released

Recommended Posts

we are just now moving away from webroot at work, we used to use their service for email and web filtering as well as a few other things however, it became too unreliable so we are moving to Sophos for all of our services.

Hi Redbull,

This is Greg from Webroot Support and I wanted to find out about your past experience with Webroot to see if I can help you out. I apologize that you did not have a good experience in the past and I am sure that you are aware that Webroot SecureAnywhere is radically different than any legacy Webroot product, as well as other antivirus products on the market.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Greg

Yea but my experience with webroot wasn't good.

Greg,

Ok I installed Webroot on my phone. See spec in sig. It was alright at first but then it slowed down my phone to eventually it was a pain to use. I uninstalled it. I thought ok let me try a second time. Same thing. I've not used it since. Tried one other antivirus that seemed to do the same thing. Sorry not something I can recommend or bother with. If you've fixed the obvious memory leak, shrunk it's foot print I'd consider trying again. That's it in a nut shell.

See for me, I HATE the bloatware that comes installed on these Android phones. They already eat up resources as it is. Disabling the installed apps is a pain. It's not permanent. Rooting is the only choice in this regard. Then comes along an Antivirus that just flies in the face of performance and optimization. So unless you're going to assure me that Webroot has improved I'm not interested. My phone does alright. It's not the fastest on the market, but it's not the worst. It's become kinda dated, but does me just fine.

Balls in your court Greg.

RedBull,

Thanks for writing me back. First, what version did you have installed when these problems occurred ? SecureAnywhere Mobile for Android is now updated to version 3.1.0.4547 and we continue to make improvements to its functionality and effectiveness. I am not sure what you mean by it being a "pain to use," as once you set it up it works automatically and you can either leave it at the default setting to automatically scan once a day, or you can configure a schedule so that it runs only when you are not using your phone.

It is optimized to not drain batteries and to not interfere with the overall usage of your device. However there are a few factors that can contribute to battery drain, such as the amount of files on your SD card, possible SD corruption, a lack of available system memory on your device or a possible threat. The easiest way for our Technical Support team to help you troubleshoot the issues you are having is for you to join the Webroot Community and post the issues you are having in the Webroot Mobile for Android section. I am certain that they will be able to help you pinpoint the problem and get you back up and running.

Thanks,

Greg

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
