Legal Crap:

All trademarks mentioned in this post are the property of their respective owners. Screens remain property of me. Client used was XChat Windows build by silverex using the default theme.

I also have a question.. If I am on a network (like work) do you know how I can still connect to irc? Like I take it 6667 is the port you are using to connect.

Is there another port I can use that isn't normally blocked by a network? Or is there some site I can go to in order to check and see what ports are open on my network?

You should post the link in step three.

That is the official built but the windows version is shareware because the author says it's a difficult process.

The version shown here is the X-Chat built by Silverex which is free but comes with GTK for the interface which is the only negative thing about it compared to the official built but it's still smooth and quick.

no needs, it's automatic.
Yeah, you auto-join rooms based on your user info, no client configuration needed ;)

And good guide (Y)

Um that autojoin will not work with all clients (i know it dosn't work on talkative or xchat / and i'm preety sure it dosn't work in hydra either)

You should post the link in step three.

But not everyone uses that build so it is kinda useless. and everybody should be able to find it without much help anyway.

I'm guessing that the IRC server will invite you to the channels and your IRC client will connect to the channels automatically if invited. This is actually a bit of a security risk but I guess the Neowin server is trustable. There's a script to get XChat to auto join on invite here: http://forum.xchat.org/viewtopic.php?p=139...606935c9e14d705

irssi can be configured to auto join on invite too.

No, it dosn't use invites. It uses the SAJOIN command which only certain people (chatmods and above) can access.

    • Google was using the old CATPCHAs data to train their LLMs. What is the say they won't use this camera data of users to train their LLM? these companies need some strict regulations!
    • Depends on what you need. Might be a bit clearer on what you plan to do with it. Sort of a waste if you get the newest and greatest, but don't know how to use it.

    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
