Do I have to restart to enable it? I see "Enable on system start" but I don't wanna restart :p

Settings are applied after closing options menu.

It gives an error and doesn't function on Vista 64bit with Aero on.

Mind You write content of the error message? Thanks - also check if You have .NET 3.5 installed and are running it with administrator privileges, as well as any firewall/antivirus isn't interfering (note some themes might cause crash)

Is there a readme file or anything?

There is anything ;P if You have any problem feel free to ask - I will try to help. :)

This is the message I'm getting:

post-127663-1237763265.jpg

It appears on first launch and upon closing the settings menu. I have .Net 3.5 SP1 and have UAC disabled so it's probably running on admin level. I also have Avira Antivir but I don't know how to understand if it's interfering or not.

Anyway I hope this is useful for you.

I wish everyone would reply - send bug report like You!!! :D It makes life a loooot easier :) I will think of solution - give me a sec

Possible solution

According to what I read second ago it seems to be mostly file write permission.

Hmm could You closing application, and creating/modifying AppData\settings.dat

containing

alc|1

wb|1

ph|1

and tell if anything happens after launch (assuming You agree with license :) (by alc switched on) ) - windows should bounce and picture highlight should be enabled

Edit I will also try to avoid such situations - fix will be released soon (in next 15 h I guess, now I have to go to sleep it's 00:30 here ^-^'

OK, I'm not too experienced in this but here is what I did:

I opened C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Nimi\settings.dat

It was like this:

alc|1
wb|1
ph|1
efc_tt|1
efc_wt|1
efc_wm|1
efc_wr|1
efc_ic|1
efc_wq|1
efc_jw|1
efc_wb|1
efc_wk|1
efc_cs|1
efc_cw|1

After edit it was like this:

alc|1
wb|1
ph|1
efc_tt|1
efc_wt|1
efc_wm|1
efc_wr|1
efc_ic|1
efc_wq|1
efc_jw|1
efc_wb|1
efc_wk|1
efc_cs|1
efc_cw|1

Annnd, no luck again :) Same error at same times. btw I did tell you I'm running x64 right?

O_______O

such a loooong list - with everything enabled (to be blunt never tried all at once ^-^')

Try disabling picture highlight and board - possibly freeze as well. Using limited combinations might help as well :) for example: contrast screen+transprency or resize & move.

Oh and You can try turning picture board etc. - wallpaper ones if everything will work...if it crashes then - reason most likely is Yours picture folder: try removing some images from it then (happens sometimes and unhappily I can't do anything about it - .NET issue - beside of repeating error handle system update)

Well I'm going to bed now as it's 1.30 here but just so you know the error I posted comes right after I run the program before the agreement displays. It also comes on when I close the settings window with nothing selected so it's probably something wrong with app itself rather than individual plug-ins...

Effects are unloaded after applying settings - considering old ones, so did You try running it again after that crash?

and goodnight - same goes for me as well :)

this really doesn't work too well with aero on. Jelly windows makes the titlebar dissapear. Eventually dwm crashes and the service has to be restart. I'm sorry, it just doesn't work on my pc, and i don't have any themes

I'm using Vista Home Basic and didn't experience any problem except rarely DWM crashes (from unknown reasons) - I don't see reason for explaining how DWM works etc. but temporary disabling it for window is only way to apply effect in such visual way.

Anyway, jelly windows aren't only and main effect available in Visuals 8 actually this is one I've never thought as mainstream - so I hope You will find other effects enjoyable. :)

    • I'm not unblocking my camera for this crapola. Sorry, Google.
    • Ummmm that is what is it supposed to do. Just turn if off in settings if you do not want it analyzing your open tabs. Chrome does the same thing with Gemini. Sarfari will do the samething after Apple's AI and even more so with the release of their 27 versions that is now powered by Googles LLM/ML models. Understanding why it is doing it and how it can help you vs jumping to some conspiracy theroy is a much better approach. As long as it can be turned off, all is good. Yes the default should be off but the a lot of people would never discover these features.
    • Just another reason (aside from many others) not to use Edge. Firefox 153.0b5 DEx64 has a similar feature added recently in prior builds that I will turn off at some point when I get around to it. It's the new "Something looks suspicious" page that pops up here and there. It cleverly hides itself between web pages that I've actually visited; as a result, you know, of selecting a web page and telling the browser where to go. The interesting thing is that it does not produce these warnings from pages that I, as the only intelligent user of the browser in my system, have ever directed the browser to open! What seems to be happening is that the browser looks at all the goofy ad links on a web page I do actually open and selects one that "looks suspicious" and then creates the "something looks suspicious" web page, which is neatly inserted, as mentioned, between web pages my RB ("real brain") has directed the browser to load in a session. The thing is, I usually look at links I am considering to follow before I ask the browser to load them, and in cases I have noticed where the link does indeed look suspicious, most of the time I will choose to not follow the link at all. Doesn't everyone do this or something similar? I am picky about what I voluntarily load... (I don't like links that start off fine, with a site designaiton that seems normal enough but then is followed by indecipherable alphanumeric strings many, many lines long, etc. I tend to reject those because they look suspicious. They may not be, but I don't care... I'll stay with Firefox, of course, if for no other reason than they usually let you turn off the junk you don't like. And because it isn't Edge... But at some point Microsoft will come to realize that putting your bookmarks on the left side is a Good Thing for a lot of people, just as Microsoft discovered when it had the bright idea of nailing the Windows taskbar to the bottom of the screen, when for decades Microsoft browsers had left that placement up to the user. They have finally reversed the obscenity of that decision. Finally.
    • Google was using the old CATPCHAs data to train their LLMs. What is the say they won't use this camera data of users to train their LLM? these companies need some strict regulations!
