Mother believes teacher may have fed semen to her son

TORRANCE, CA - A parent came forward Thursday with a disturbing photo that she believes may be related to the case of a teacher accused of bizarre sex crimes.

"So many pictures it is weird. At first i didn't want to believe it but it makes me think," said Obdulia Bueno, who was horrified to learn that a seemingly innocent picture of her son eating a cookie may be something far more sinister.

The photo depicts a white liquid on the cookie, which Bueno believes is the bodily fluid of her son's third-grade teacher, Mark Berndt.

She said Berndt sent the picture home with her son.

"I want to see what kind of cookies are they," she said.

The veteran Miramonte School teacher faces 23 counts of lewd acts on a child.

Investigators said they believed that one of his offenses was spoon-feeding his semen to students.

Monday police arrested Berndt at this Torrance home for allegedly taking hundreds of sexually suggestive photos of his students ages 7 to 10.

"We want first, anybody who thinks they were a victim to come forward," said LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy.

We learned that Berndt's troubles began in 1994, when L.A. County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation after a 9-year-old student told her mother Berndt touched her inappropriately in class.

Believe its 80% of sex offenders reoffend once released. Chemical castration doesnt even stop them.

It's a waste of tax payer's money trying to help these people.

And teachers unions go to the wall for these people. Many large districts have "rubber rooms" where teachers unsuitable to work classes spend their day because firing them takes do long and costs so much. Small districts and thosr who have closed their rubber rooms move them around from building to building and/or doing menial tasks.

Girl says she was victim of both accused teachers at L.A. school

In 2008, a second-grader at Miramonte Elementary School reportedly came home from school and showed her parents two photos she said were taken by her teacher, Mark Berndt.

One photo shows her with two other girls, standing against a wall. The second shows her biting down on a small cookie. A shiny, light-colored substance is faintly visible on top of the cookie.

The parents said they found the photos strange and went to Miramonte's principal at the time to complain. They say the principal looked at the photos but dismissed their concerns, suggesting the photos might be part of a class

The girl was later transferred to the classroom of Martin Bernard Springer. There, the father said, his daughter said Springer touched her on the leg and thigh.

The parents put the alleged incidents behind them until last week, when Berndt was charged with 23 acts of lewd conduct against students in his classroom. Berndt, 61, allegedly spoon-fed his semen to children as part of what he called a ?tasting game? in which children were blindfolded and, in some cases, gagged with tape. Authorities said they have hundreds of photos he took in the classroom showing the scenes.

Then on Friday, Springer was arrested after the girl and another female student said he touched them improperly within the last three years.

Law enforcement sources said Saturday that detectives believe the one girl was a victim of both Berndt and Springer. Detectives have been investigating her accusations against the two teachers.

What's more disturbing is that this guy gets the option of bail, albeit at $23 million dollars. yet KimDotCom, who's accused of trivial copyright offences is denied bail. I know it's technically a different country (USA/NZ), but still, it beggars belief.

    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.

    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
