Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 doesn't charge via USB?

Connected it via USB front port of my PC last night and saw that it hadn't charged at all, it's now in a mains socket, how come?

G'day Neobond,

Not sure if this helps, but in my bios settings, it has a setting to allow charging of batteries via USB and is disabled by default. This is for a USB 3 port though.

What brand of motherboard do you have?

I had to enable an option in the BIOS and install the gigabyte software to enable my iPad to charge through the USB ports.

Same problem as my 10.1, the USB port must not have enough amps to charge it.

Cheers guys, I have an old P5K-E WIFI (USB 2.0) I guess that's it.. my phone does charge though through the front ports. :p

Older motherboards only supply about 500mA of current through USB, where a lot of new mobile devices (tablets, smartphones etc) want way more than that.
