Results of Multiformat at 128kbps Listening Test

Hello.

I'd like to announce the results of the Multiformat at 128kbps listening test

Vorbis aoTuV is tied to Musepack at first place, Lame MP3 is tied to iTunes AAC at second place, WMA Standard is in third place and Atrac3 gets last place.

wow, that Vorbis aoTuV has really come a long way, hope the use it in 1.1 or whatever is the next major release...

I still stick with -aps LAME because I know years from now software will still be readily available to play the encoded files

i just use AAC files, sounds great to me :)

Wow, vorbis is pretty damn good apparently. The only real reason I stick to mp3 is because of things like otsego which rely on id3 tags. I know it's a stupid reason, but it's mine nonetheless.

I have audible problems with LAME so I use Blade Enc and all's fine now.

VBR WMA 9 Professional...

I don't use any portable media devices, so it serves my purposes well. I haven't encoded an MP3/OGG since WMA9 Pro came out.

Everyone claims that Blade is a freakin' awful encoder, tests show LAME way ahead of Blade, and you claim you're audible problems with LAME and that Blade sounds nicer? Right, earth's flat too.

While I used vorbis for a while, the lack of support really hurts it. Plus, if this test were done at a higher bitrate, I couldn't see it winning.

I prefer ogg, but mp3 is fine for everyday use on the computer, in my opinion. I typically don't burn my songs to CD, though.

Did you read me say Blade was nicer? No you didn't. This is an encoder thread and I have a right just as you to come in here and post about an encoder.

You don't have a right to tell me that I don't have a problem with a cirtain encoder when Iknow I do. Your telling me that I'm wrong about my problems proves to me that your an ass and have no respect for peoples opinions.

Your calling me a "troll" just shows me how immature you are. Now, My problems stem probably from a dire need for a soundcard driver reinstall and I shall fix the problem. And in the future please refrain from telling me i don't have a problem.

Now then, LAME is a very good codec, I just use Blade as a preference right now due to my seemingly non-existent problem according to tom.

Having a preference for an encoder that's generally known and also tested as bad just implies that.
