I guess that creationists will have to go somewhere else to get their degrees. :)

The state attorney general has filed a lawsuit to stop a scam to sell bogus academic degrees online.

Brian Roche's Report

Attorney General Jerry Pappert said the scheme was conducted by hijacking the Web sites of more than 60 businesses throughout the state.

Penn State University and the Senate of Pennsylvania are listed among the 60 businesses which had their Web sites hijacked, according to the attorney general.

Monday morning, the state filed a lawsuit against Alton Poe, of Saint Cloud, Fla. and Craig Poe, of Frisco, Texas.

Alton Poe is allegedly the dean of admissions at Trinity Southern University in Plano, Texas and Craig Poe is allegedly the president of Innovative Cellular and Wireless in Corpus Christi, Texas.

It's alleged that the men and the businesses conspired to hijack the Web sites of 60 businesses throughout the state, including more than a dozen in the Susquehanna Valley.

Several Internet service providers based in York and Harrisburg were affected when their Web sites were used to transmit more than 18,000 spam e-mail messages.

The Web site link included in the e-mails was promoting the sale of online academic degrees from Trinity Southern University.

For a fee ranging from $300 to $500, consumers could buy a bachelor's, master's or doctorate in several different fields.

Undercover agents from the Attorney General's Office applied for a degree online using the name Colby Nolan. They were then told that Colby Nolan had the credentials to receive an executive MBA. As it turned out, Colby Nolan was a cat.

The lawsuit filed Monday seeks to bar the defendants from doing business in Pennsylvania and pay restitution to any consumers or businesses affected.

Do you just post anything that can so that you can put out a little smart comment with it? What does this article have to do with "creationists" anyways?

It has to do how many of them "aquire" their degrees as in buy them.

I didn't see anything in this article that says anything about "creationists". It seems they did a good job and busted somebody selling something they shouldn't. So tell me what the point of this story and your creationists comment was again?

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania attorney general's office Monday sued an online university for allegedly selling bogus academic degrees ? including an MBA awarded to a cat.

Trinity Southern University in Texas, a cellular company and the two brothers who ran them are accused of misappropriating Internet addresses of the state Senate and more than 60 Pennsylvania businesses to sell fake degrees and prescription drugs by spam e-mail, according to the lawsuit.

Investigators paid $299 for a bachelor's degree for Colby Nolan ? a deputy attorney general's 6-year-old black cat ? claiming he had experience including baby-sitting and retail management.

The school, which offers no classes, allegedly determined Colby Nolan's resume entitled him to a master of business administration degree; a transcript listed the cat's course work and 3.5 grade-point average.

The state is seeking a permanent injunction, civil penalties, costs and restitution for violating consumer law and restrictions on unsolicited e-mail ads.

Prosecutors said more than 18,000 illegal e-mails were sent out this year with links to Trinity Southern's Web address, including 300 that appeared to originate from the Internet servers of Pennsylvania companies and institutions.

Among the alleged victims are Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as numerous Internet service providers, businesses and technology companies.

The defendants are the school; Innovative Cellular and Wireless Inc. of Corpus Christi, Texas; Alton Scott Poe of St. Cloud, Fla., vice chancellor and dean of admission for Trinity; and Craig Barton Poe of Frisco, Texas, president of Innovative Cellular.

A phone message left at Trinity Southern was not returned Monday. None of the other three defendants appears to have a listed or published phone number.

Where does it say anything about "creationists" buying degrees?

585058060

Because that is what many of them do they either go to a diploma mill or just buy them outright. Only a very few of them have actual degrees, usually in a field not related to biology and the like.

So which degree from the ones that are offered did those "creationalists" buy to give them a "creationalism" degree?

You really have no idea what you are talking about. I bet you don't even know any of "them".

It was a comment about how so many use fake degrees as well. It didn't have to be in this article. You guys are just to eager to troll anything I say. You sure must have empty lifes.

Empty lifes? Ha ha. Posting every article that can somehow bash Bush, American, the economy, or "creationists", and you actually say that. Great.

And your "creationists" comment was not necessary then.

So you admit that your comment had absolutely nothing to do with the article and you just wanted to make some smart ass leftist anti-christian remark because you hate everyone who's not you... right?

Gee, the trolls sure are out in force today.

585058321

trolls? this is exactly what you do to other threads. it's a taste of your own medicine. ya don't like it do you? The only difference is... we have valid points, you never do.

Foub, you are the very essence of the word "troll". You're so eager to post a steaming load just to get a response, yet you have the gall to label anyone who calls you on it, a 'troll. Take your childish crap somewhere else.

Can you find even one article in which a person arguing creationism holds a bogus degree?

I did jsut read an article about how hundreds of those in the Dept. of Defense are sitting on bogus degrees.

So how about some info to back that comment up instead of fabricating it out of an article?

    • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
