Recommended Posts

ntl, the UK?s leading provider of consumer broadband services, today announced its strategy for the delivery of next generation cable broadband services. The aim is to make 10Mb its standard broadband access speed. Broadband customers will be able to choose a 10Mb service with a usage allowance to match their requirements.

I'll be looking forward to my 10m:):)

Ben

caps are going to increase to 75GB http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4749987.stm still crappy if you ask me. At full speed that can be used in 160mins. It would fill up a harddrive but thats not the point.

I am wrong its 17 hours.

The only reason they giving it free is because the other companies giving out 10MB connections is the same as what NTL 3mb is so yes it's a good idea and i will welcome the change and i hope they fix the stupid low upload speed plus the slowness and cut outs alot of us are getting.

I hope the upload speeds get a good increase. It really is pathetic at the moment. Caps from NTL never get enforced unless you go way over the top. Even then, I have'nt heard anyone get a phone call or letter.

What will current 1Mb users be upgraded to?

Man, this has been explained a thousand times already... if you actually read the article, it explains that EVERYONE is getting 10mb, starting with the current 3mb users.

Where'd you hear about this? Because I can't see any mention of that sort of cap anywhere on NTL's article.

I think he is on about downloading a HD Movie, and "browsing" BBC's future online TV Broadcasts....

10MB is great but it seems the normal speed is quickly going to double digits. By the end of the summer, Comcast will have 8Mbps for $10 more a month. Several other cable companies are talking about or rolling out double digit packages. Of course, FIOs offers up to 30MB. I think we will see a huge speed increases for cable users in the beginning of 2007 when DOCSIS 3.0 starts to hit nodes. Not sure about DSL.
