I just downloaded iTunes 5 and was going to update when I got an error during installation. Error 1920 stated that Bonjour service failed to start and asked me to check if i was Admin. which I am. Any help, maybe some dependencies that the bonjour service needs is disabled. wacko.gif

Restart and try installing it again?

I had a installation error too but restarted and tried again and it was ok.

no it will not complete installation and the only options are to retry starting the service which always fails with the same error or to cancel which cancels the whole installation.

i have tried installing numerous times and in safe mode but i couldn't get it to work.

***Could someone please open services.msc and right-click bonjour and tell its dependencies (i can't because it doesn't install)

QUOTE
1. Right click on "my computer" in the start menu
2. Click on "Manage"
3. In left hand panel click on "Services and Applications"
4 Then in the right hand panel double click "services"
5. Scroll down and make sure that the four following things are running and are set to automatic: 1) TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper 2)Windows Management Instrumentation 3)Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions 4)WMI Performance adapter.
6. Make sure all 4 of those are running and set to automatic
7. Restart the computer.
8. After the restart, disable Norton internet security
9. Download the new itunes installer and run it.
10. This should work. Or at least it worked for me.

My wife's computer had the same problems. Eventualy I found the event viewer service was disabled which is at the start of a chain of dependant services that was causing the problem.
