I'm in the market for a new camera, again (Bought a laptop last time I was looking for a camera  ). Stolen from my other thread:

  • 5 megapixel+
  • Good zoom
  • Good movie mode, I use my cam to take a few movies too
  • Another good  , good quality pictures
  • As said in another thread, i'd like one for advanced amateurs, there just isn't enough settings for me to play with on my finepix 2800Z.
  • Takes SD memory card (i've got around 6gb of space in SD cards, nice to beable to use them with new camera ;) )
  • Fits into my budget, i'd say max is around ?250, witch is $490 accross the pond.

I've been looking at the new Panasonic DMC-FZ8, it seems to tick all the boxes, but i'm wondering if there are any better ones for the price.

Cheers.

I personally would recommend a Canon PowerShot SD630 or even the SD700IS (the IS is for "image stabilization," which is a very nice feature). Both seem to fit right in your budget and are EXCELLENT cameras.

Honestly I wouldn't go with anything but a Canon or a Nikon. Quality-wise, those are the best.
