[UK] Looking for a slim digital camera for around

Recommended Posts

My sister is looking for a slim digital camera for around ?105.

I have come up with the Sony CyberShot W35 for ?110 (from Ebuyer UK) but I thought I'd better ask here for more options.

Any suggestions?

If she is willing to pay a little bit more (?129)

They are both 7.2 is seems.

Is the Casio Exilim EX-Z11 digital camera (?130) better than the Sony CyberShot W35 (?110)?

I'd personally go for Canon. And yes, Megapixels means nothing. A 5MP would do her just fine. It's just a few of my friends have that camera i mentioned and they all love it, so i'm just going by that.

Don't go for Casio. If you can, Canon, Lumix (Panasonic) is the way to go. Sony is ok.

That is what I thought.

Don't go by Megapixels either, a good lens is much more important than MPs. Canon and Nikon are great, Panasonic is good.

Yeah, I know that, but they're both decent makes, both 7.2 MP and both in the ?110 - ?130 so I assumed they'd be decent cameras.

Saw this and thought you were looking for a part:laugh:h:

Samsung NV3

lol that is awesome.

Also, the Samsung NV3 looks decent as is around the ?105 I was looking for. It's certainly another option.

canon all the way.

Could get the Canon PowerShot A520 for that price but it's not very thin and only 4 MP, but then again on the other hand, it comes with a free compact photo printer. Still, I don't think the A520 is an option.

I got a Canon IXUS 70 (PowerShot SD1000 to our friends over the pond). It's slim (20mm) and much better than the Casio Exilim S600 I had before (which broke on its own accord). It costs a little more though... I think you can get it online for ?130. It's got much better quality in general.

I am thinking of getting the IXUS...but it is ?190 on Play.com!

It is ?125 on Amazon though...which is surprising because Play.com are dirt cheap, it must be a pricing error.

Yeah Martyn I got that ixus 70 its really, really good and I whole heartedly reccommend the OP to buy it. It's just so awesome after you play around with it for a week. Its first impressions were dissapointing but then I tweaked the settings and got amazing results! It also has a ton of features which you won't find on any camera line in the same price range from another brand such as colour tweaking, face detection. The video on it also suprisingly good. Get the ixus 70 from amazon just like I did, you'll love it. The thing is also amazingly tiny, pictures don't give it justice.

Yeah I am considering getting one because I think it will come in handy when I go off to Uni. I like it because it is small and I could just slip it in my pocket when I go clubbing or something.

I have been reading a few reviews on the net as well...and I am very impressed! Now I just need the funds...

    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article?
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.

    • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
