theyarecomingforyou
I have NOD32 3.0 installed and have had since release - it has been running fine. However, today I've been having problems accessing webpages when email and other services have been running as normal. I restarted my computer and that didn't help. Then I tried disabling Web Access protection in NOD32 and it works fine again. I don't understand what, other than definitions, could have changed things. I downloaded an updated build from the Eset website but that didn't help. I'm very annoyed because NOD32 has been very good in the past. However, version 3.0 is nowhere near as good as version 2.7 was. I don't want to have to roll back but I don't want to have to disable internet protection to browse websites. There seem to be a lot of complaints about internet problems with version 3.0... does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Arckon
I have been having some issues with the new Nod32's web filtering as well. I use Firefox as my web browser and just tried to download the latest version of OpenOffice.org and the download kept getting stuck at 100%. I have also had 100% CPU usage with ekrn.exe at times. Nod32 appears to be filtering all kinds of things that appear to be web traffic even when not using a real web browser. I noticed this when downloading the fonts and dictionaries through OpenOffice. I currently have Nod32 to only monitor traffic from the applications that I designate as a web browser (IE and Firefox). I have a lot of applications listed in the list, but I have only selected IE and Firefox. I see a note on the screen where applications are listed that says something about putting a cross in the box to make it not scan that, but I can't get the cross (I assume "X") to come up. I just get a "check" or "no check". EDIT: I just went back to my Nod32 settings, and changed the protocol filtering to the selection for both ports and applications and went back to the list of apps. Now I can get the "X" for the apps I don't want scanned. I think the better option for me is to just use the applications only setting instead of both ports and apps though. I do have Outpost Firewall 4 installed, and have just turned off the Anti Leak control for ekrn.exe to see if that helps with the CPU usage. goretsky Supervisor Posted January 13, 2008 Supervisor Share Posted January 13, 2008 Hello, You might want to verify you have the latest version installed, v3.0.621.0. I seem to recall reading an earlier message here that this was a problem with older versions that was fixed in a newer version.
