Hello,

I have a laptop here with me. It is a gateway MX6455.

http://assets.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/Bl...008826sp2.shtml (specs)

I cannot get the audio to work. It is a Realtek AC 97 video card. I have Windows XP SP3.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. I have tried the official drivers and others from no offiial gateway websites (realktek, softpedia, etc.)

I don't have a clue to make it work. I checked the BIOS, but it doesn't have an integrated audio [enable/disable] options.

help please :(

Hey there.

To get your audio/sound working. You need to download "D00377-002-001.exe" (Audio Driver version: 6.14.10.575), from the following link @ Gateway.

http://assets.gateway.com/support/drivers/...p;uid=201422639

Double click on the download, whick unpacks the driver into a folder.

now, You need to uninstall the old audio/sound driver, the instructions to uninstall the old audio/sound driver is clearly set-out in the "readme.txt" or "readme" file which is amongst the driver files you have just downloaded from gateway.

Reboot your computer.

Navigate to the new audio/sound drivers & double-click "setup.exe" or "setup" to install the drivers.

Reboot.

Hope this works for you.

PS: Seems like your audio/sound device is "AC97 Conexant" not "AC97 Realtek"?

Below are instruction from the reademe.txt file, on how to uninstall your old/current if any? audio/sound drivers.

Goodluck
