So the first year's over, or for for some people it'll be the second or third year.

I've just finished my first year with a first, which I'm pretty chuffed about. It doesn't really matter though, the first year doesn't count towards my degree, I just had to get 40%.

So what did everyone get?

I remember walking away with 94% on my first year, and then of course it hit me...it doesn't mean f**k all!

If you can keep up a first for the next two kudos!

My lecturer told me something interesting though:

When you go for a job interview, and they see your university results, quite a few prospective employers are more impressed by a 2:1 than a 1st. The reason is this (and they are majorly stereotyping now...); If you got a 1st, you are clearly very good at your specialist subject, but you probably spent most of your time on your studies and no time socialising. With a 2:1 they may look at it like you did well at the subject, AND you spent some time socialising (which is important as it shows you can probably work well in a team).

I agree and I disagree with that professor's philosophy.

congrats, my uni isnt looking too bright, kind of wish it did, but hey, life goes on :p

basically, accounting can suck my balls. I just want a pass so I can continue, not like im going to be a damn accountant anyway, technology is my stuff and Im good at that, these needless complications in life :(

1st = too much study

2:1 = good mix

2:2 = little too much socialising

3rd = did you study?

pass = why did you go!?

I can see where he's coming from, but to me, a 2:1 could just as easily mean you spent too much time playing COD4. Makes it easier to take though. :p
