Extra Battery or Battery Grip?

Recommended Posts

So. . . I have decided the next thing I am looking at for my camera is extra power.

New batteries are ?9.99, but the battery grip is ?54.99. That's quite a lot more. I don't know how many photos on average I can take with a battery but I don't think the battery grip is worth it. It will add bulk and weight to my camera when I can surely just buy a couple of batterys and change them when they run out?

What are the advantages of having the battery grip rather than extra batteries?

Thanks

You can only get 3rd party grips for the D40/D40x/D60 as they were not designed to take grips, hence you do not get the full functionality of a grip (no second shutter release or AE/AL button or command dials)

But apart from that it is completely down to personal preference, some people like the extra weight and stability of a grip and some don't.
