Is this nikon's big announcement for the summer? No D90? :(

perhaps you dont under how serious this is for NIkon, now the previously unrivaled 5D has just got a swift kick in the A. Albeit the 5D is alot cheaper (especially used) but the D700 has all the stuff the 5DII was supposed to have

Well, I was originally planning on scoring a D300 but plans have changed with the announcement. Anyone need a spare kidney? :p The SB-900 is a beast in size, especially when compared to the SB-800 and some of the new features look really promising. The SB-800 appears to have a better GN though from what I can dig up but being able to upgrade the flash firmware via the body (D700 & D3 only) is a nice touch too.

So what makes the SB900 that much better?

Not enough to justify upgrading to it from my SB-800. It has plenty of power for what I need and I wouldn't mind having 2 more of them for a total of 3. Apparently there are also some new radio transmitters that can also trigger wireless flash in TTL that look pretty nice but I am going to do some more homework on those first.

The D700 will be a good camera. I would consider it if I didnt just get the D300. But i dont think i really need the FX sensor anyways. THe SB900 i cant justify. It doesnt have enough on it, it will bring down the cost of the SB800 and thus ill go for one of those.

i believe you meant to say "SB 900" and Canon ex 580.

If so, The EX580 would be comparable to the SB800. The SB900 is better than the ex580...so yes. I believe it is better.

Mind you, the SB-800 has a higher guide number than the SB-900. (and the 580 higher than the SB-800)

The SB-900 is a more creative flash though with a better user interface compared to the 800. (no more d-pad) They finally made the Master/Slave switch physical now.

    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
