Spybot-S&D 1.6 has arrived!

Time for an update! To keep up with the latest threats, and solve some issues and feature requests users had, we're proud to announce Spybot-S&D version 1.6. Some of the features include:

Improved Scan Speed

Reported a few weeks ago as one of the big issues users face, Spybot-S&D 1.6 integrates parts of the future 2.0 file scanning engine to speed up the on-demand scan.

Up-to-date browser support

Both immunization and the on-demand scan are able to access a dozen different browsers, which now includes the latest revisions of the most popular ones, Firefox and Opera.

Easier On-Access Use

Until now, our on-access part was able to block bad entries, but at the same time, confused many novice users by asking for confirmation on changes of other monitored system entries as well. While this is a great feature for all experienced users who want full control over their systems, we decided that we need to make this easier for the average user, and integrated automated decisions based on the system entry database built through our RunAlyzer, containing more than quarter of a million decisions.

Thanks!

Have always liked this program and it is still my mainstay spyware program, for when I DO use Windows.

Anybody else have issues with this thing when the hard drive is listed as anything other than C:?

On one machine of mine, the hard drive got labeled as I:, and when ever I install Spybot on it, I get various issues with it. Usually some foobarred dll, but there have been others.

Why isn't this under software new yet.....
seriously, why isn't this front page??? neowin is really slacking off........... not impressed

First, it's not front-page material. It should be under Software news if anything, the same as the RC1 was.

Second, take a chill pill. It'll get there. You don't have to wait until it hits Neowin news to download it, you know.

Yeah, whats why i said why isn't it under software news. And yes, i realize that I can download it, as I did... but I used to rely on neowin for software updates for things that didn't check, such as spybot... i'm sure others do too. The RC made it into the news right away, why isn't the full version there? You guys are getting a lot of people saying neowin front page isn't the same as it used to be content/content quality wise, and personally I think this is a good example. Just my opinion though.

    • Ninja Theory was great until Microsoft acquired them. They let them spend a decade on two games, with a third on the way, that explore mental health and were OK interactive experiences. Sony appears to be able to choose better IPs to develop, particularly single player. I'm probably going to buy a PS5 just for Wolverine and God of War Laufey (which reminds me of Heavenly Sword when Ninja Theory was with Sony making games).
    • Good riddance to a terrible studio. They've done nothing but over promise features and fall flat with the releases they've put out.
    • hey buddy, i don't appreciate the attitude. Can't wait to see the results.
