Also, for the main forum if there is a new post...maybe you could have the ">" in bold format.

YOu can do that under My Controls. I considered removing them by default, but the option remains to the user....

This isn't about the forum lite skin but rather the news page (front page) lite skin:

I was checking the file size of the standard/full news page (18.49 KB (18930 bytes) ) then checked the size of the lite news page ( 40.83 KB (41814 bytes) ). That's right--the 'lite' page's HTML is actually ~2x the download size of the standard page. :rolleyes:

The problem apparently is that the standard/full page has gzip enabled but the lite page doesn't. So my suggestion is, enable gzip for the html/news-lite pages. :)

Yeah, I find the lite to be slower, Im using opera and have cable internet.

Are you referring to the main page, or the forum theme? The forum theme is slimed down quite a bit, so I don't see how it could be slowed. Plus, gzip is on, anyways :)

Are you also counting the size of the images in the 18.49 KB number that you cane up with? Because that's part of it too.... There's a big difference in size in the Neowin logo alone...

Good idea. :)

mod_gzip is actually faster than PHP's internal gzip output handler too.

As the stars have been turned into text shouldn't the bands saying "neowin mod" etc be text for this theme?

Lite should be made defualt so people cant complain the site is slow :p
