Maryland Teacher Charged With Giving Students Cocaine

Recommended Posts

ROCKVILLE, MD ? Montgomery County police say a former teacher has been arrested for allegedly distributing cocaine to students from Thomas S. Wootton High School.

Police say 44-year-old Theresa Cunningham Duarte distributed cocaine to students more than once from her Rockville home. She was charged Monday with two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of contributing to conditions of a child.

Police say Duarte was a substitute teacher at Einstein High School in Kensington for the 2003-04 school year. She became a full-time teacher at Wootton High School in Rockville in July 2004. She resigned from that post at the end of last school year, for unknown reasons.

Officials say there may be other students who received illegal drugs from Duarte.

I imagine, looking at housing and local shopping malls, there's lots of bloodied white powered noses in that community:

I once had a vice and principal I suspected were addicts who used with other students. This doesn't surprise me one bit.

You want an education on Cocaine? Watch Cocaine Cowboys I and II. You'll see how far this stuff goes.

Just as a matter of curiosity I might see those films lol!

because it feels great?

I can't imagine that cocaine would feel all that 'great'.

I get the same alleged 'high' effect from sugared Lipton tea.

Given the ridiculous expense of major drugs, the unhealthy effects, and the possible legal hassle, I'll stick to ordinary caffeine.

yep, it's not imaginable.

no, you don't, the tea-high is not even near.

it's expensive, because it's illegal, it's unhealthy because of the way it's made (coca leaves themselves are not harmful at all, IMO, im not really an expert on this one. there was a video on the net, how they make cocaine in colombia -- just see how much gasoline they use), and please don't think that caffeine is anywhere near healthy, it actually makes you weaker.

it's not good to take cocaine, i don't advise it or anything, but if you ask "why do people take it?", "because it feels great" answers the question.

Wow, you are comparing tea with cocaine?

Sorry, but as a user - that does make me smile! LOL - thanks :)

Cocaine does not make you feel great/good/etc. ... you can die

Yes, it really does actually! Coke makes VERY few people "die".

It ****s you up ... Weed; Now that another story

Actually, no. It's the same story. Weed messes with you just the same!

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Are we being serious? coke makes people feel really really good, don't post silly coments.

weed actually is another story. it's not addictive as hell, you can smoke alldayeveryday for years and then just forget about it. not the same with coke, i wonder how many of us wanted to go and do a line after taking about this :)

Yes, it really does actually! Coke makes VERY few people "die".

No it does not. It does not make you feel good, even though your brain says that.

Smoke 2 ounces of weed and snif 2 ounces of coke; First do the weed, so you can post here, all high and say "Im high as **** but Im still alive" then do the coke; We will never hear from you again

Actually, no. It's the same story. Weed messes with you just the same!

Weed makes you feel relaxed and happy. I messes up neurons but it will not kill you. Coke will.

Again it does not make you feel good; Thats what your brain thinks.

What a idiot post you have just made.

Both these drugs are addictive. The problem lies in each human being and their ability to say "No".

Iidiotic comparison.

Different substances work to different scales.

Sorry, you don't have the foggiest what you are talking about.

"Just forget about it"

I dont know one person who could just forget about it, hell out of every 5 people I know 4 of them, their parents smoke pot still. Get your facts straight, you must live in some upper white class suburban culdesac where everyone has a basketball hoop and no kids.

What a idiot post you have just made.

ohnes, not the idiot post again!

yep, but their ability to say "no" is affected by the actual pleasure they get from the drug. the more the pleasure, the less the ability.

even if you're mentally strong person, without any history of addiction in your family (is there any family like that?) coke could make you go "i dont give a **** about work, world or debt, i just wanna snort" and sadly that's what alot of people get.

weed does not give you that "climbing up the montain" feeling, coke and speed does. when you smoke alot of weed you're probably just numb and stoned and go to sleep, with white stuff its different -- the more you take, the more the euphoria, till you overdose

personally i like weed for other qualities, like not poisoning my body, not making me physically weaker afterwards, not packing what it takes to make my heart stop etc :]

Its idiotic because the truth hurts doesn't it?

Numb and stoned? What kind of ****ty ass weed do you smoke?

When I smoke, I feel relaxed yet happy and energetic.

Sorry, people here are labelling coke as being a killer, a life consumer and so on.

My experience over the last 8 or so years says very different!

Its killing you slowly inside.

Ban coke, free weed.

it escapes me why people are so casual about doing drugs here. to each his own for sure, but it's pretty sad really.

yea yea, there had to be someone who stood up here and against drugs in favor of non-laxed morals and a belief in something called integrity.. but then again that's something fleeting from neowin and a lot of people in this world.

drugs only temporarily subverts your conscious reality.. and i've seen time and time and time and time again where once people come to realize that drugs aren't the answer to anything (even just 'having fun') they end up far worse off.

sorry, didn't mean to rain on your guys' parade. not trying to offend anyone here. i have an opinion just like those who think there's nothing wrong with wasting money and life on drugs.

as a heavy user (in the past)

coke will weaken your body faster if you use it regularly.

the nice feelings tend to last less and less, driving you to assume more and more.

it does fee great, at least in the beginning.

but the again, even cigarettes are great in the beginning, then when you get addicted you actually enjoy only 1 or 2 in the day, the rest is for habit.

coke==an experience, yes, but very dangerous in the long run indeed.

    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
