Nipun Mohta
Blu-Ray may have won acclaim as having the best high-definition format, but it has got a lot to do when dealing with hackers. Recently, a group of hackers at the Doom9 forum managed to successfully circumvent the BD+ protection. For the record, this is the copy-protection which Richard Doherty, a media analyst, claimed as one that cannot be broken for 10 years. The hackers achieved this feat by creating a reverse-engineered BD+ virtual machine software that helps to decrypt and play the protected content in the player. One more example of a DRM failure. Since it is broken now, the day is not far away when the Blu-Ray backers will release a new encryption key to close the loophole. If you're interested in the geeky discussion of the hackers, head over here.
