60GB Starter Pack

Recommended Posts

I hadn't seen any topics about this, haven't even heard about it on the news and such, but we got these in work today much to my surprise. It's a 60GB Starter Kit for 360 Arcades (and cores), it comes with a 60GB HDD, 3 months Live, an ethernet cable and a wired headset. Not so great for those who are looking to buy a new XBOX 360 (seen as Live subscription for 3 months is ?14.99 and the arcade games probably only come to about ?12 anyway), but great for those looking for a fairly cheap upgrade from their Arcades/Cores, or even their 20GB Premiums.

I was thinking about buying this, then selling the 3 month code for ?12 and the headset for around ?8.

Makes the 60gb hard drive a lot cheape:p:p

Or you can buy a 120GB for ?40, instead of a 60GB for ?:p0 :p

Good idea, BUT it doesn't show which headset it comes with. There is one where the mute toggle switch and volume control is at the plug (on the controller). There is also one where the volume switch and mute toggle is on the cord (about 1/2 way up). The latter sucks, and I cant find the other in stores (my first one got sucked up the vaccume cleaner).

I've got both types (the latter came with the messenger pad) and I can't tell the difference, aside from the differently placed volume/mute controls?

I guess its just down to preference, as when im playing a game of COD, for example, I like to talk to people in the room with me, as well as my friends in game, so its a hastle to take my hands off..I know. Im picky..

And I didn't answer your question..its pretty much the same as the other one, just with the control difference.

I'm fairly certain the headset with mute/volume controls on the wire only comes with the chatpad, at least it does over here in the UK.

I agree on the quality of it though, it really sucks compared to the bundled headset with XBL subs etc.

Actually I've seen those same ones being sold separately in one of our newer Game stores, so they could be replacing them all with that design.

New consoles also come with the newer headsets with volume controls on the wire. I bought a USA 360 a few weeks ago and that had one in the box. Come to think of it, I think my UK Elite I bought over a year ago might have come with one too.

On a similar subject, I previously had a Premium 20 gig, and i've just bought a new 60 gig pro. I know I need a migration kit to transfer my saves/downloads etc, and just wondered the best place to get one? Looked on eBay and they are going for silly money (especially for something you only use once). And I read that you need an Elite to get a free one from Microsoft.

Phone Microsoft and ask them, the only reason people state that you "need an elite" was because for quite a long time, they were the only consoles with bigger hard drives.

I called them when i got the 60GB pack, I had to correct the rep on a number of things he said (one of which was the transfer kit was available in store!) and after being put on hold for almost 10 minutes while he spoke with someone he suggested I get an unofficial transfer kit available at stores but was not supported... which also does not exist! I ebayed for a memory unit to transfer saves in the end
