First Details Released at Comic Con!

LOCATION: San Diego Comic Con

THE SKINNY: At San Diego Comic Con, the cast and crew of SUPERNATURAL during the press roundtable event talked about their plans for the fifth season and what we would have to look forward to in the coming year.

It did not disappoint.

First off let?s just begin with the news everyone has been looking, hoping, searching and asking forCreator Eric Kripke says that while originally the plan for the show was to do five season onlyb> ? and this being the fifth season upcoming, fans are getting nervous ? but because the show is doing well and actually gaining viehe says they may indeed do more seasons of the show.w.

And the good news is the Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are contracted to do one more year of the show after season five, Kripke says.

?Because I have low self esteem, I never thought we?d make it to 100 episodes,? Kripke says. ?I had a five-year plan and I thought we?d do a comic to wrap it up [laughing]. But the ratings are getting better and better but I still have to do a five year plan and want to finish this chapter. We are not going to delay it. [sam and Dean] are going to be facing the devil this year but there is not reason why a new chapter can?t begin.?

And that my friends is what we?ve all been hoping for. Hope, that the show will continue.

Kripke goes on to say that he plans on tying up some of the loose ends from previous season ? mainly the Croatian virus and Meg. Both will be taken care of iKripke says there will be an episode in season five where Dean jumps five years into the future and we will see an apocalyptical world ravaged by the war with Lucifer and the Croatian virus will play into it.s will play into it.

?It?s our version of 28 DAYS LATER,? Kripke says.

What else will be seeing in SUPERNATURAL season five? Well for starters the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, more mythological creatures from the bible and elsewhere and ? celebrity ghosts? Yes, that?s right celebrity ghosts including a homicidal Abraham Lincoln ghost.

Kripke jokes ?The Four Horsemen are not going to be riding horses but color coordinated muscle cars. Why ride a horse when you can be in a Mustang??

Ah but that?s not all! Also returning in season five will be Ellen and Jo Harvelle, Jessica Moore (played again by Adrianne Palicki) and Rufus.

And we may actually get to see God as a character at some point, according to producer Sera Gamble.

?We are approaching it cautiously,? Gamble says. ?There is a lot of doubt because a lot of characters are angry at God for not stepping in and doing something about what?s going on.?

Also getting some more camera time will be Bobby Singer, played by Jim Beaver. Beaver says that Singer will play a huge role in the first three episodes and that the first three episodes will set up the rest of the season.

?I will be more involved this year than in the past,? Beaver says. ?When I read the first script [for season five], my jaw dropped as to what is happening with bobby, not what I expected.?

And let?s not forget about Castiel. Misha Collins says that he will be on the run with Sam Dean as they will all be hunted by angels and demons alike. Castiel will also have less powers than he did in season four after being ?fired? as an angel.

Lots to look forward to and we can?t wait.

I like this show more then I did the X-Files which is saying something. The show only got better as it went on. The introduction of angels could have led to the show becoming a bit of a joke, but they handled them so well.

I can only look forward to what season five has in store for the brothers. I love the idea of the four horsemen driving cars!

Paris Hilton will guest star in the October 8th episode of The CW's "Supernatural," reuniting her with her House of Wax co-star and "Supernatural" series regular, Jared Padalecki.

"Paris Hilton is playing a demonic creature that takes the form of....Paris Hilton," said series creator and executive producer Eric Kripke in describing her role on the show. "It'll be a fun, irreverent episode and we here at Supernatural' are thrilled that Paris agreed to do it."

The episode, titled "American Idol," will air on October 8, 2009, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

I really want to see what they do with Bobby, Lucifer, and the overall plot of the 5th season; but damnit I wish they would keep the show short and sweet. Too many shows have gone on too long just for the sake of doing more episodes and have suffered for it. I don't want that happening to this show.

And I'm not happy about Paris Hilton guest starring in an episode. I don't think I can put into words how much I loathe her. And I won't like having to deal with her being on one of my favorite shows of all time.

Also, read this a few days ago. Some stuff is a repeat of what Rappy posted though. (Contains some big spoilers, so read at your own risk)

With an all out Armageddon underway, the show will enjoy using twists on some famous Biblical stories. Don't expect huge effects as due to the budget, much of the big scale action takes place offscreen.

Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) will be portrayed as a nice guy, a sympathetic version using many elements from Milton's "Paradise Lost"

The four horsemen of the apocalypse will be introduced throughout different episodes of the season, though their 'horses' will be muscle cars.

Whether the show gets a season six or not, the plan is to finish up the 'apocalypse arc' by the end of this upcoming fifth season, an ending that "will end with a bang...[and] be bittersweet"

Unlike the very dark and almost morbid tone of last season, this year is the show's "most hopeful" season and one of the most fun with the brothers seemingly back together throughout after some division last season.

Castiel will serve as a recurring character, his angelic powers gone. Stuck on Earth as a human, Dean takes him to a whorehouse.

The almost mentor-like character of Bobby (Jim Beaver) will undergo a "dramatic transformation" early in the season that shocked the actor when he read it.

The fourth episode will involve a jump five years into the apocalypse-ridden future and will question whether fate can be changed.

God, who has disappeared it would seem with the angels kicking off the Apocalypse on their own, will be involved toward's the season's end.

Returnees include Ellen, Jessica, Meg (in a new body) and Rufus.

Eleanor in Salt Lake City: Any new news on Supernatural?

Jim Beaver told us to expect a huge Bobby-related twist early in Supernatural's fifth season. He says, "There's something pretty big that happens with Bobby in the first episodes. Really big. It's going to have a huge impact on his relationship with the boys?but I don't know what that impact is, because I've only seen the first three scripts."

I haven't seen this reported anywhere, so this may actually be a bit of a scoop. A casting agency has posted a casting call for episode five ? and they're looking for actors to play Abraham Lincoln and Mohandas Gandhi. Apparently these are "heavily featured co-star" roles, but neither character will actually talk. I'm wondering if they have a voiceover speaking thru Lincoln and Gandhi, or if they just stand around? Actually, I'm really wondering if Sam and Dean will be forced to team up with Lincoln in an arena of death. Did Ben Edlund write episode five?Casting Callb>]

If the promo images are any indication, we're in for a load of tussling in the Supernatural season premiere, "Sympathy for the Devil:"

The season's sixth episode will center on the show's version of the Tooth Fairy, whom the casting notice suggests may exist as the result of a young boy's powers:

Jesse: An all-American boy age 11 who is wise beyond his years. He was adopted as an infant and remains perplexed by his unusual powers. He possesses a childlike innocence-he believes in the Tooth Fairy (Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!)! He suddenly finds himself faced with a very adult decision. Recurring role.

Creator Eric Kripke says we'll never learn how Ruby's demon knife got its powers, because a little mystery is good. But we will see the magical kill-anything Colt pistol again ? it pops up early in the season, and then plays a major part in episode ten. The Colt is the Winchester boys' best chance at shooting Lucifer in the face. And there's always a possibility Jeffrey Dean Morgan might pop up again at some point. [EW]

    • We now know when and how the Universe may truly end by Sayan Sen Image by Marek Pavlík via Pexels| Not representative A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. The research, published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, was conducted by Tye, Horace White Professor of Physics Emeritus at Cornell University. Using recent observations from major dark-energy surveys, Tye and his collaborators developed a cosmological model that predicts the universe could have a total lifespan of about 33 billion years. Since the universe is currently estimated to be 13.8 billion years old, the model places it near the midpoint of its existence. According to Cornell University's summary of the research, the study centers on the cosmological constant, a term introduced by Albert Einstein in his theory of general relativity. In modern cosmology, the cosmological constant is commonly used to describe the simplest form of dark energy, the unknown phenomenon believed to be driving the accelerating expansion of the universe. "For the last 20 years, people believed that the cosmological constant is positive, and the universe will expand forever," Tye said in a Cornell University news release. "The new data seem to indicate that the cosmological constant is negative, and that the universe will end in a big crunch." The study draws on data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), two major projects designed to investigate the nature of dark energy. According to Tye, recent observations suggest that dark energy may not behave exactly like a simple cosmological constant. To account for those observations, Tye and his collaborators proposed a model involving an extremely light hypothetical particle that evolves over time. In their calculations, this produces a negative cosmological constant and leads to a future collapse of the universe. The model predicts that cosmic expansion would continue for approximately another 11 billion years before reaching a maximum size, after which the universe would begin contracting and eventually collapse. Scientists have long debated how the universe might end. As explained in an article published in The Conversation by Stephen DiKerby of Michigan State University, several possibilities have been proposed. If dark energy remains constant and positive, the universe could continue expanding indefinitely, gradually becoming colder, darker and more diffuse in a scenario often called the "heat death" of the universe. Other theoretical possibilities include a Big Rip, in which cosmic expansion accelerates so dramatically that galaxies, stars and even atoms are torn apart, or a Big Crunch, in which expansion reverses and the universe collapses back into an extremely dense state. DiKerby notes that the Big Crunch idea itself is not new. What distinguishes Tye's work is that it attempts to use current observational data to estimate when such a collapse might occur and how it could unfold. Much of the universe's long-term evolution remains uncertain. According to current astrophysical understanding, stars will continue to form and die for billions of years. The Sun, for example, is about halfway through its expected lifespan. Galaxies are also expected to continue merging; the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are projected to collide several billion years from now. At the same time, the nature of dark energy remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in cosmology. While observations indicate that the universe's expansion is accelerating, scientists still do not know what is causing that acceleration. Future observations may therefore alter current predictions about the cosmos's ultimate fate. Tye emphasized that additional evidence will be needed before firm conclusions can be drawn. DESI continues to collect data, while upcoming observations from missions and observatories including Euclid, SPHEREx and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory are expected to provide more precise measurements of dark energy. "People have said before that if the cosmological constant is negative, then the universe will collapse eventually. That's not new," Tye said. "However, here the model tells you when the universe collapses and how it collapses." For now, the study presents one possible future for the cosmos rather than a settled prediction. Whether the universe ultimately ends in a Big Crunch, expands forever, or follows another path entirely remains an open question that future observations will help answer.
