HP Laptop Windows 7 Upgrade

Recommended Posts

I have a HP dv5 Series laptop.I wish to upgrade from Vista Basic 32 to Windows 7 32.

However, the upgrade lists out certain issues like SCSI/RAID Host controller and keyboard filter(among others),as potential issues.

What should I do to resolve these issues, and where do I go to find resources needed for the solution?

Also,is it necessary to uninstall services like Catalyst manager, and UT3 and reinstall them,or can I just leave 'em there, install Windows 7 and then update these programs?

If you have an Intel CPU you can just install all the latest drivers located here:

:) If you have an AMD CPU then quite a few of those drivers are still aplicable I think but I'm not 100% sure.. Either way you wont have any problems upgrading to Winodws 7 really.. :)

This is what it says in the compatibility test.

These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.

o Storage controllers: SCSI/RAID Host Controller

o Keyboard Filter

These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)

o Microsoft SQL Server 2005

o Unreal Tournament 3

o ATI CATALYST Install Manager *

o ATI Catalyst Control Center *

o HP Quick Launch Buttons

o Bejeweled 2 Deluxe *

o Zuma Deluxe *
