I HATE laser printers that the toner sits ontop of the drums. Oki data printers is one of these. When you have to repalce the drum you right away lose 2000 pages worth of toner. OF course each toner cartridge is rathed for 11k pages and a drum is rated for 20k pages so you lose 2000 pages worth of toner when you replace the drum.

The last printer i owned was a HP Color LaserJet 2600n - big heavy thing but it was awesome.

Now i don't have one anymore but my GF has one and man she be bitching about it too. It's almost exactly like they said in the graphic. At 3am the printer decides to start printing out some crazy text or blank papers. She have full ink tanks and paper is perfectly loaded but it's just not working! She was ready to blow a lid that day for sure! She has an injet too and I keep telling her to get a laser one cuz they suck her dry (pun intended) on injet cartridges! Them things die in like 200 prints/~2 months!

My one cat hates my printer. She refuses to let anything print from it. Just today I had to print a one page document, and she jumps on the tray and causes a paper jam. :p

good kitty!

Awesome comic.

Yeah, after this printer I'm done with inkjets. Just recently HP made the size of the 564XL black to what the original 564 (non XL) size was. They also claimed to lower the price accordingly. That means the original 564 probably spits out no more than a hundred pages, and the XL about 220.

That's on top of their absolute piece of **** software that this comic was hinting at.

If I need mass printing done, there are school printers I can turn to. 300 pages per CS course, which can work up to 1500 pages per term.

the really fun part begins when your boss start to complain about the amount of money used on toners, then when you start looking around, you find out he suffers short term memory loss, everytime he ask you to order some

he also orders some himself and you find $1500 worth of toners in a room, and he stands there like he have no clue where they came from.

I have the exact same model and have seen the same type of thing - the cartridges mysteriously expire or run out of ink according to the printer. Was just at 30% yesterday on the printer and 0% on the color so I am betting that it is a feature Kodak installed to force people to buy. I looked for the little "reset button' on the cartridges, but nothing so, I am betting it is indeed an intended 'failure'.

My cat does the same thing, although she acts all freaked out by it, with a mean look on her face and then will sometimes pounce it. LOL

Hilarious comic!

I especially hate that you have to download 600 MB worth of useless software just to get your printer driver. Speaking soley of HP printers, does anyone actually use HP photosmart studio?

My dad insists on installing the HP printer/scanner software for his device. He prefers it for its ease of use.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
    • CPPC states can also be messed around with in most UEFI settings but aren't as robust as the ones that the Windows Scheduler can provide! Make sure you look into what your motherboard also has before customizing for the Windows Scheduler.
