HTC Evo 3D

Recommended Posts

I've been waiting for rogers to get a good android phone for almost a year now, and it looks like they finally are, the htc evo 3d.

The other phones i've been looking at were the htc sensation and the samsung galaxy s II.

But in Canada it looks like there both bell exclusive right now (which is a deal breaker), and rogers is getting the evo 3d.

I really don't care about the 3d, it would be cool to have to show off to people every now and then, but Its not a feature im that interested in.

The htc evo 3d does have a dedicated camera button, and a bigger battery then the other dual core android phones right now, and its available on rogers.

I've only got a couple concerns, is a 3d slcd going to have the same picture quality as a regular slcd screen? or will it have a lower contrast and higher battery drain?

I havn't been able to find if its possible to disable the 3d on the screen, like the nintedo 3ds has.

I'm also concerned that some awesome new phone will come out before Christmas, just because thats usually when all the good stuff gets released.

What are your thoughts?

I think the screen is just fine. I own a 3D and came from an Epic 4G which has an SAMOLED screen. So I definitely see a difference but it's not so bad that you will notice on a day to day basis. As for awesome phones coming out, that's always going to be true. Good phones are constantly coming out. You could go to Bell Canada and get the SGS2.

I own an EVO 3D right now but I am thinking of taking it back because it gets hot and freezes from time to time. I switched from my iPhone 3G to EVO 3D. The screen looks great, even you can personalize any way you want such as themes, icons, etc.

The 3D phone is first generation, so probably they may make 2nd generation EVO 3D in near future or different brand. Who knows.

The apps on EVO 3D, are awesome. Bit different than the iPhone version of apps that i have seen.

You can use your apps in normal way.. There is a switch (that sits next to the camera shutter) on the side that you will be able to change to 2D or 3D whatever you like to do. For example, you want to take 3D picture, switch it to 3D then you are ready.

By the way, I am not good at writing the review about the devices.

I would suggest waiting on or getting one of Samsung offerings. All the 3D stuff is rather gimmicky and HTC aren't known for their battery life in any of their devices.

I have enjoyed owning the Evo 3D and haven't had any issues. The phone is very responsive (no lag), viewable in bright light, colors are good, lots of apps and it makes phone calls. The 3d aspect is somewhat a gimmick, but it is cool little feature. The battery will normally last all day, of course depending on usage.
