Info on Gmail Notifier Plus is here Gmail Notifier Plus Readme

For my own sanity, I won't be replying to support requests or error reports on the forums here. But members should feel free to help out other members. Please report issues here: https://github.com/s...ier-Plus/issues

Changes in 3.0 include:

  • New preferences dialog (again) based on the Windows Control Panel UX. I've made a lot of effort to use the same system resources, layout and measurements that the actual control panel does in order to give this a native appearance and feel.
  • Reorganized the jumplist commands and jumplist email display. Should make it more obvious what the default account is for.
  • Improved the logic for displaying emails and fixed the toast email display.
  • Improved locale (i18n) file layout.
  • Improved lots of internal mechanisms.
  • Fixed all of the issues that were reported (if it was possible) since the last version.
  • Fixed several rarely occurring exceptions that I recorded on my machine, but were not reported externally.
  • The application and it's supporting libraries are now compiled as 32-bit (x86).

For a full list of specific changes, see the COMMIT-LOG file or https://github.com/s.../commits/master

Please note: Locale (Language) file layout/format changed for this version and many of the old locale files had to be discarded. If your language is missing, please contact me about translation.

As a follow-up;

I didn't enable new version checking as I was running into some issues. I'll wrap that up for 3.1.

I'm recommending that users unzip the program to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Shellscape\Gmail Notifier Plus. It solves most permissions issues and I'm going to be installing to that directory when I get the installer wrapped up. That'll also be the path the auto-update code will be using.

Well I just dont want neowin to lose another great community app - meaning that I dont want the main discussion and such to leave neowin I guess.

Compared to some of the other threads in this forum, and certainly on the rest of the site, we don't get many looks anymore. Maybe the allure has worn off, or maybe it's just not getting noticed. Is there any way to raise awareness on neowin?

I'd suggest PM-ing news staff to talk about giving the app exposure on the front page (full blown review perhaps), with a link back to this thread for more discussion.

Thanks for the wild goose chase trying to find the current thread

Been using Digsby for years for my Gmail needs, but since it got bought out, it has gone to ****. Such a shame :(

Always intended to give Gmail Notifier Plus a try, so now that I've kicked Digsby to the curb, I think it's about time :)

So trying this out for first time and one thing i noticed when i ran it for first time that i'm not able to use tab key on account adding to get to the next field. (password field in this case). Also looks like other fields are not tabable. Not much of a deal breaker but having tab key instead of clicking all the time into a field would be nice.

Please re-read the OP Intelligen. Most notably the second sentence.

Oh i read it, just figured this was quickest way as its not a bug. You mentioned support requests and error reports. This is a feature idea. Entirely up to you if you want to add it. Did you also mean to add feature requests should also be added via https://github.com/shellscape/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/issues too?

Whatcha mean? Haven't gotten any bug reports since the new version released. Looks like this one is pretty stable.

I ask because you had made a post on 1/23 saying that you would be getting out a new build soon, but a few bugs had cropped up. No big deal. It's working great for me now.

Ah my bad. I had some errors happening to me that weren't ever reported so I was trying to fix those. Resource type errors. I think I have them fixed but haven't really been watching the error output directory. I might get an installer going sometime soon and post a new build with that. But I assume its working pretty well for people with no bugs or anything coming in, so there's probably no rush.

Yeah the app is working fine for me. Haven't experienced that issue I previously reported about the window being in the middle of the screen. I look forward to the next update release. Thanks for your hard work on this & keep up the great work.

    • Isn’t it so sweet Microsoft after so many years of neglect, they admit to these issues in Windows lately? Doesn’t this just make you wanna run out and meet them halfway to give them a warm hug only? Just gives us this warm fuzzy feeling thinking about it. /s
