Zlip792 - thanks for the compliments, much appreciated. Please go to the github site and create an issue entitled "Urdu Language File" and I'll work with you to get that language supported.

Boss, done, now waiting for instructions from. Monday and Tuesday are off here so will work much more in that days. I will try to post its review on some forums (not spamming - proper review) as well as for needed exposure for great handy app.

A translation issue in English (US) (in my opinion):

There was a while problem checking for updates

it should be:

There was a problem while checking for updates

I think it should be like this way.. Progressing well on Urdu translation... ~50% done.

Also I saved XML in Unicode, is it OK?

will you be taking bug reports for GNP in the windows consumer preview? I've ran into a minor issue while running it in the preview.

As a rule of thumb I don't troubleshoot apps on beta builds (which includes RCs, CTPs, etc.) of Windows. Too much changes. You can spend hours debugging some quirk in the build only to have that quick fixed in the following build.

I'm going to release a minor update this week Wednesday (Eastern Time) afternoon. Nothing major, some new language support that users have contributed and a few minor fixes for edge case issues I've been seeing on my machine. I may or may not put together an installer for this, installers tend to be a pain in the ass.

Cheers

Like a walker in the zombie apocalypse that just won't die, I've been poking at GNP again. I've been making some updates to the code, and you can follow the progress here https://github.com/shellscape/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/commits/master/ (as you can see, did quite a bit today)

I also updated http://shellscape.org/ to prominently feature GNP.

I still want to get a good update checking type thing integrated before I release. Unless you're checking back here frequently (and with the hiatus lately, that's probably not the case) or following me on twitter (@shellscape) you're not going to know theres a new update unless the app tells you. The code's been there for a while, but disabled and incomplete.

Well, I have good news today. I've finished the seamless background auto-update feature and the remaining bugs are resolved. I'm gonna run this build for a day or so to make sure nothing crazy happens and then I'll package a release. Here's a few shots of what's new:

Running for a few days with zero errors. So we're good to go. I have one sticky problem with the new installer for 3.5 (the new version) to solve with regard to setting the program shortcut in the start menu. WiX is a bitch to work with. Once I get that figured out, we're good for a release. Thanks to everyone for your patience over the last few months in waiting for your fixes to arrive in a build.

Just added 30 new languages. Managed to leverage Bing's translate service (as Google's is now pay-for) to write a small app to translate the XML for me. Mind you, it's probably not 100% correct, but will probably be enough for users that don't read English well.

hi Andrew,

i have used this nice app from the first versions. but now i have problems: i installed windows 8 release preview and now preferences can't open so i can't create an account.

i found a way i can check my mail by using an old version 2.1.2 cause it used a different way of showing preferences window. but for some reason it captures focus every time it checks mail, so current program becomes inactive and it's not convenient (like i can't continue to scroll by mouse wheel until i press somwhere in the window to make program active again).

it will be great if you could make the newest version to run on windows 8.

The 3.5 installer is ready. (I hope) I'd like a few pre-release testers to give it a shot before I release. If you'd like to help with testing the installer, please send me a private message.

Registered here especially to offer my services as a pre-release tester. cool.gif

    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103.
