PS Vita Price Drop (not from Sony)

But from Japanese retailers.

Since its launch the sales figures for PlayStation Vita have been disappointing. As is well-documented, the device sold 325,000 units in its first 48 hours on sale, slumping to an underwhelming 72,479 additional units during its first full week on sale (December 19-25).

It now seems that a Japanese retailer has taken the measure of slashing the high price of the 3G model to kick start sales.

Gamesradar is reporting that some retailers have begun reducing the price by as much as 20%, taking the price of the console down to 24,999 Yen - that's approximately ?209/$326.

Of course, this doesn't mean the price point of Vita will be reduced ahead of its worldwide launch in February. But with one of its main competitors, 3DS, experiencing its best sales yet (482k in one week), American and European retailers may take a similar decision to reduce the price.

With the price of the 3DS being cut back in July, is the starting pricepoint of Vita prohibitive? Let us know your perspective in the comments below.

Yea if the price was ALOT lower I'd consider it, mainly due to being burned with buying a PSP when it came out regarding lackluster library ( games are a taste issue, what some like others may not ) and being bored with games made me sell it a year or so later
