problems to connect to 3G

Recommended Posts

hi everybody,

i have a T-Mobile Motorola Atrix that i received as a gift. I live in Morocco where there is no T-mobile. I try to set the phone up to get 3G connection but it never works. it keeps trying to synchronize and changing the signal from normal to 3G to H and so on.

i tried my simcard in other phones and it works and I tried other simcards with 3G in my phone but still the same problem. i called my network technical service and they told me to upgrade the OS. i did it since there was an update available in the t-mobile web. now i have Android 2.3.4 yet the problem persists.

when i see other phones with android there is a option to activate the 3g that i don't have in mine, i think because it's a t-mobile version.

can anyone here give me a hand with this?

thanks in advance.

Seems like a network problem.

Whats it like, not connecting.

You get connected, you see the '3G' symbol, and don't get connected, or you don't even see the symbol?

this is the problem, once i set up the access point, eider automatically via the network TS or manually, the network keeps changing (the symbol i mean) from normal to 3G to H and so on. and i can't connect to the Internet.

Well do you have all the APN stuff setup right? username/password? You are getting a 3G connection apparently (and obviously the phone is unlocked) so that's why you see 3G and H. It drops back to 3G when there's no active data connection (H) so I guess it's sorta working you just aren't being routed.

Wifi works i'm guessing as well? What about if you switch back to just 2G? Some networks have seperate usernames for 3G and 2G for some weird reason? :ermm:

What do you consider "normal" when you say it switches between normal, 3G, and H, because switching between 3G and H is normal, as SHoTTa35 said. When you use the network, you'll see it switch to H, when it's idle, it'll drop back to 3G. I question why you would have to touch anything in the APN settings. Typically, especially on stock ROMs, this information is already set and shouldn't be changed. I'm not familiar with T-Mobile APNs though, so I don't know what addresses and authentication to use when setting one up. It sounds odd that you would get a 3G or H symbol, but internet still wouldn't work, unless it's the wrong APN or wrong authentication. Where did you get the APN info from? If you're still having problems with it set to automatic, I'd say the phone might just have an issue or something. I'd stop by a store and show it to them. They'll probably just replace it because more often than not those guys don't really know any of that stuff.

when i was in the UK, the phone worked well i got 3G connection. it's just a matter of the set up with the local provider.

wifi works, and i tried setting the phone on 2G, 3G and automatic but no way.

i set it up mannually following the instruction of the technical service with all the possible settings still doesn't work, i coppied the senting from other Android phones with the same provider, yet the same result. but i think it's because all the phones i've seen are not like mine, with the provider O. maybe this one needs some special settings :)

i tried calling back the TS but i got an A-hole who told me that my phone is not recognized and he needed the S/N...

what i mean by normal is no 3G no H, just the network lines. 2G?

i'm actually in a country with no t-mobile service. i use the local provider (IAM) and they sent me the setting for the access point at first, when it didn't work they called me and we tried to set it up manually with the same result.
