I am ordering tomorrow partly for Resident Evil, more for Snake Eater and Kid Icarus but mostly because the 3ds is too small for my older than 12 year old hands and I get really bad cramps so I'm hoping it'll make it easier to hold (i've read it makes it much more like holding a traditional controller).

Also glad it's really cheap - seeing it should have been included in the original design!!

Personally i find the supposed "need" of the second analog stick that some people harp on about to be ridiculously overexaggerated. I mean, really. Outside of shooters(which any real gamer knows only work on the pc), very few games actually require it for the game to be playable, or use it for anything significant at all.

Any 3rd person game would like a word with you.

My hands are pretty big, but I don't have too much trouble with the size of the 3DS. I am still waiting for this to be delivered. When it is I'll let people know what my impressions are.

I don't have a 3DS but I actually found this to be true as well with the normal DS Lite that I have. I actually find it to be more comfortable for longer gaming sessions than the PSP (which caused my hands to cramp up after a while). Be interested to hear you impressions as I know my friend was thinking of picking on of these up so long as it's worthwhile, as he's been looking at picking up RE and Metal Gear.

Really? What about a 3rd person game known as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? Many consider it to be one of the best games of all time, and it achieved that status, you guessed it, in 3rd person without a second stick. So as i said, very few games(that aren't shooters) really require it.

You're undervaluing the effect it can have on gameplay. The freedom that it gives you can dramatically improve upon the immersion effect you get when playing games. You're basically saying that because it can be done without a secondary analog stick, that everyone should do it this way (when it can deter from the enjoyment of some games). Don't get me wrong, God of War is one of my favorite games which doesn't make use of the right stick (other than to dodge but the PSP versions did just fine without it for the most part), but you have to realize that for certain games it can certainly improve upon the enjoyment you get out of them.

Yeh zelda didnt need one, but many games would be worse off without them. Anyway I don't see the point of coming into this thread just to state that you don't like dual sticks.

I got mine yesterday, really happy with it. It does make it easier for me to hold, so much that when at home I will probably play all games with it on.

I cant imagine playing resident evil revalations without it!! Being able to strafe, easily peer around corners, walk backwards while aiming etc etc. completely changes the game for the better. I don't understand how anyone can think that a game like this is better off without it...

I Would love to, but I am still waiting for it to be delivered...

Have you played around with the addon much, just wondering what the comfort level of it is? Was curious if the extra width on that right side makes you have to sort of "stretch" to reach the the ABXY buttons there or if they're just as easily accessible as they are without it.

I used it in the Snake eater demo. I was going to buy some more games that support it but then I blew all my money on my Vita :p

As far as comfort goes, it is pretty good. If you have adult sized hands you shouldn't have a problem, but if you're a kid I think you'd run into problems. Accessing the face buttons isn't really an issue. If your hands are big enough to play it comfortably then I would imagine your thumb is long enough to reach the face buttons. The Z shoulder buttons are neat, too.

Playing Snake eater with a second analogue stick is a no brainer. I imagine the same would go for the resident evil revelations game.

Admittedly, though, after using the Vitas built in 2nd stick, this just seems silly in comparison. it really is apparent Nintendo should have made the 3DS with a second stick.

    • Just the price of doing business. The scamble to pull as much from the web as possible is happening, and it's happening before a case like this changes how or what is legal do to with AI in terms of data harvesting. But even then as we've seen with the likes of Google who ignore cookie requests and just accept the fact they'll get fined, it's built into their business price model now. AI is here, its not going away. Their reward if any from the court case would be best suited to trying to incorprate AI or licence their end points as authentic human verified content. The problem is, as we've seen these same news papers are using AI themselves.

    • This Chinese company is reportedly developing a feature Apple and Samsung can only dream of by Hamid Ganji While companies like Apple and Samsung have been relatively conservative with their devices’ battery capacities in recent years, Chinese manufacturers have taken the competition to the next level by introducing significantly larger batteries. However, the latest report from China suggests that a local company may already be developing a smartphone with a whopping 14,000mAh battery. Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claimed on Weibo that a smartphone maker is developing a device with a 14,000mAh battery. If true, it would be the largest battery ever used in a smartphone and could, in theory, provide up to a week of battery life on a single charge. The leaker did not reveal the name of the company behind the device, but there are some clues. This week, HONOR unveiled the X80 Pro Max in China with an 11,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging support. The company also launched the Honor Win in January, which packs a 10,000mAh battery. HONOR, a former subsidiary of Huawei, has a proven track record of developing smartphones with unusually large batteries. However, other Chinese brands, including Xiaomi, have also launched devices such as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max with 7,500mAh batteries. Though Chinese users on Weibo also believe the company behind the new battery is HONOR. Interestingly, Digital Chat Station said the device with the 14,000mAh battery weighs around 220 grams, making it lighter than the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (233 grams) and slightly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (214 grams). The iPhone 17 Pro Max currently packs a 5,088mAh battery in eSIM-only versions, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery. Neither device is expected to see a dramatic increase in battery capacity in its next-generation successor. So when it comes to battery comparison, Chinese brands are unbeaten. HONOR smartphones are currently available in the EU, but the Chinese brand has no official presence in the United States due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. government.
